About the Role

We’re looking for a visionary Vice President of Data Science to drive the transformation of SAP Concur Expense into an AI-first, data-first solution. You will play a mission-critical role in shaping how we unlock the full potential of our massive T&E data assets to deliver smarter, more automated, and more compliant expense experiences for millions of users worldwide.

You’ll lead the charge in creating intelligent systems that reduce manual effort, increase policy compliance, and deliver on the vision of an expense report that writes itself. Your impact will be seen in higher automation rates, improved PSAT, reduced audit burden, and better control over employee spend.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Shape and execute our data and AI vision, turning strategy into measurable product impact.
  • Partner deeply with product, engineering and UX to drive automation, compliance, and personalization through ML and AI.
  • Create predictive and agentic systems that help users submit accurate, policy-compliant expenses with minimal effort.
  • Introduce rigorous causal inference and experimentation frameworks to measure what’s working and guide smarter investments.
  • Champion a data-first culture, helping teams make evidence-based product decisions at all levels of the org.
  • Define and implement best practices for data governance, ethics, and AI compliance in a regulated, global enterprise.
  • Hire, coach, and retain a high-performing, product-embedded data science team.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Executive-level data science experience, ideally as a head of DS or VP in a product-focused company.
  • A blend of technical depth and business savvy, you can build models and shape roadmaps.
  • A proven ability to influence product strategy and drive measurable results.
  • Strong experience working with ML, experimentation, and AI product development.
  • A track record of building strong, empowered teams.
  • Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Stats, Applied Math, or related field).

 

Nice to Have

  • Experience in expense management, travel, fintech, or enterprise SaaS.
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs or agent-based AI systems.
  • Knowledge of audit, policy enforcement, or regulatory compliance in global markets.

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is $362,800 - $605,600 USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
