In this exciting traineeship, you will be at the forefront of managing and optimizing our high-voltage grid, contributing directly to its smooth operation and future-proofing it. Working from the control rooms (Dispatching)—the heart of our transmission system—you'll be involved in the daily challenges of grid operations, such as planning outages for maintenance or expansion. 

You’ll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge tools, including our EMS/SCADA system, asset management systems, and advanced calculation tools. As part of your journey, you will also be involved in implementing innovative change projects that will ensure the grid and out teams are ready to meet future demands and challenges. Your work will not only help maintain a critical infrastructure but also shape the energy solutions of tomorrow.

An Individualized Learning Path:

This is not just any traineeship—it's a comprehensive, two-year personalized program designed to equip you with the technical expertise and leadership skills to grow within our organization. 

Over two years, you will spend six months with each of the following teams:

• Regional Dispatching
• Planning
• Data Management
• Operational and Safety Excellence (O&SE)
• Change Projects

By immersing yourself in these key areas, you'll gain a holistic understanding of how the grid operates and how to drive improvements. At the end of the program, you’ll be well-equipped to take on leadership roles, such as Network and Data Operations Manager, or take your expertise into one of Elia’s other critical teams, including Maintenance, Infrastructure Projects, National Dispatching, Grid Development, Asset Management, or IT.

What we’re looking for

• A master’s degree in industrial or civil engineering, or a technical background with relevant experience and a strong interest in electricity.
• You are fluent in Dutch and have a good command of French, or vice versa.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a creative mindset.
• An analytical approach with excellent organizational and planning abilities.
• The ability to remain calm under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Confident communication skills, with the ability to take initiative and drive change.
