Meet the team:
Torc's Autonomy Applications software utilizes cutting-edge classical and deep learning techniques to perceive the vehicle's environment, predict the movements of other vehicles, and execute accurate driving decisions. We are seeking a software engineer II to join our camera branch team within the Perception department to integrate and deploy machine learning algorithms for object detection.
What you'll be doing:
- Integrate Machine learning algorithms with the camera branch components
- Develop ROS2 components for camera branch for embedded platforms
- Integrate machine learning models which perform object detections in the camera modalities.
- Collaborate with upstream and downstream teams to specify component requirements and APIs
- Contribute to technical design documents and participate in design and code reviews
- Document your work and decision-making processes, and lead presentations and discussions in a way that is easy for others to understand
- Uphold a culture of collaboration, transparency, creativity, and inclusion
What you'll need to succeed:
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Systems Engineering, or engineering equivalent
- 1+ years of software development experience
- 1+ years of software systems integration and testing experience
- Strong programming experience in C++; experience with Python
- Basic linear algebra knowledge
- Full life cycle software development including unit and software integration testing and configuration management
- Strong technical communication skills, written and verbal, that scale to a diverse workforce
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and debug complex software defects
- Experience in source control applications and agile workflows such as Github and Jira
Bonus Points:
- Experience in applying Perception algorithms to camera
- Working knowledge of ROS2 for autonomous SW development and simulation
- Experience with Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) simulation and testing methodologies
- Experience with Bazel.
