About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Python Engineer in Technology as part of Commercial Corporate & Investment Bank Technology (CCIBT) engineering and transformation office.  Learn more about the career areas and lines of business at wellsfargojobs.com.

The Lead engineer will be supporting the build out of the new Credit Intelligence AI platform for the Commercial Lending and Credit Financial Solutions organization. As part of this team, you will solve business problems using AI solutions such as Large Language Models, Agentic AI frameworks, Retrieval Augmented Generation implementations. The candidate is expected to have hands on programming experience with Python and system to system integration experience. Other responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Design, develop, test and deploy large scale AI applications using Python and relevant AI and cloud technologies
  • Use LLMs for inference, summarization, chatbots, RAG, and other upcoming techniques
  • Build integrations with internal/external MicroServices and other data sources to build an application pipeline.
  • Implement event driven architecture using messaging technologies.
  • Collaborate with various partners within the enterprise to reuse and build reusable solutions


In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
  • Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
  • Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
  • Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
  • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
  • Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to applications and model


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years of experience with Python
  • 2+ years of experience with MongoDB
  • 2+ years of experience with MicroServices to implement and consume REST APIs
  • 1+ years of data visualization experience


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with graphing technologies using Python, Neo4j, etc.
  • Experience in an enterprise setting using Python frameworks such as NumPy, Pandas, PyMongo, PyTest, MagicMock, Fast API, Flask, Matplotlib, TensorFlow, PyTorch
  • MongoDB experience including writing complex queries, perform data aggregation
  • Knowledge of LLMs such as Gemini, GPT4o, Claude and implementation patterns with GitHub Copilot
  • Experience with enterprise technologies such as Single Sign On, secure webservices, Kafka/Solace
  • Experience building highly available systems. Lead team through performance tuning, scalability load testing and resiliency requirements.
  • Experience with containers and cloud platforms such as OpenShift, VMWare Tanzu (Pivotal Cloud Foundry), Google Cloud Project
  • Experience with tools such as GitHub, IDEs (Visual Studio), Confluence, JIRA
  • Experience with enterprise pipeline processes including CI/CD technologies such as Gradle, Jenkins, GitHub, Artifactory, SonarQube, etc.
  • Experience with Agile Engineering practices
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, artificial intelligence or a related field
  • Certification in AI, machine learning or a related field
  • Banking/Financing domain, or other regulated industry experience

Job Expectations:

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Position will require ability to work on-site at posted location

Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

Salary is just one component of Wells Fargo's total rewards package. Depending on the role, a Wells Fargo's employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).

$111,100.00 - $197,500.00
