VHIR offers a vacant position for a Data Analyst within the Secretariat for Scientific Governance and Policy at the Internal Strategy Area of VHIR.
The Secretariat for Scientific Governance and Policy Unit is responsible for the knowledge management of the Institution as well as the coordination of a wide range of strategic, scientific and institutional activities, such as Strategic planning implementation, institutional evaluations, research performance KPIs and the global support in the development and monitoring of the global institutional structure.
The Data Analyst supports VHIR Management in making decisions based on the Institution's data, as well as actively participating in the management of its knowledge through, among others, the planning and coordination of institutional indicators, maintenance of the bibliographic database, elaboration of Director’s Scientific Reports and monitoring the evolution of the Institution's KPIs.
Education and qualifications:
Required:- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Data Science, Information/knowledge management or similar.
- Good command of data analysis and visualisation tools (Excel, PowerBI).
- Proficiency in MS Office tools such as Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- High level of Spanish and Catalan (C1).
- English spoken and written correctly (B2).
Desired:
- Master’s degree or Postgraduate studies in Business Intelligence, Big Data, Data Science or similar will be a plus.
- Knowledge and experience with Sirecs-Uneix and SICTI database will be a plus.
- Studies in the field of in Life Sciences.
Experience and knowledge:
Required:- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field of data management, preferably in a scientific environment.
- Knowledge in scientific bibliographic management and bibliometric indicators (author level & journal level).
- Personal skills:
- Critical thinking and advanced analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Well organised with excellent planification and time management skills.
- Ability to interact with different hierarchical levels of the organisation.
- Ability to prioritize and work under tight deadlines.
- Proactive, flexible and results and quality oriented with close attention to detail.
- Effective management of work under pressure with the ability to prioritize tasks as needed and tolerance to workloads.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong commitment and customer service orientation (internal and external).
Desired:
- Experience with data query language (SQL) and/or statistical/mathematical software (R, Python...).
- Knowledge and experience in the biomedical field, Research Organizations or Health Related Institutions will be valued.
- Be familiar with competitive and non-competitive research activities and with innovation and knowledge & technology transfer fields.
Main responsibilities and duties:
The candidate will provide support within the Secretariat for Scientific Governance and Policy Unit (Internal Strategy Area), ensuring that all the data analysis and institutional KPIs related tasks are maintained properly and up to date. Specifically, but not limited to, this support will include:
- Develop, implement and maintain institutional data management systems, designing effective and impactful reports and data visualisations.
- Coordinate the collection and exploitation of institutional data and indicators, in contact with different units and interest actors, both internal and external, and elaborate the scientific reports and presentations as required.
- Support the coordination of the process of sending institutional data to the Sirecs-Uneix database of the Generalitat de Catalunya and SICTI to the Ministry (among other such as ICS, ISCIII, Hospital, CERCA, etc.)
- Ensure the quality of the data in the VHIR information system and support the VHIR units in correcting errors and omissions.
- Work together with the IT unit in the creation and implementation of the Business Intelligence system in the VHIR, in order to improve the obtaining of indicators.
- Provide support on a wide range of activities related to institutional knowledge: such as institutional & researchers evaluations, institutional data quality, monitoring the institutional structure and scientific management, providing data on publications, projects, among others.
- Design of effective and impactful reports and data visualisations
- Coordinate with other members of the organisation for the accomplishment of assigned tasks
Labour conditions:
- Full-time 40h/week.
- Starting date: immediately
- Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale.
