About the Role

  • Protect our Customers, Communities and ANZ against financial crime threats
  • Utilise customer data and intelligence to detect, investigate, and escalate potentially suspicious activity
  • Work within the Financial Crime Portfolio to support businesses across the Group in complying with financial crime regulatory obligations

 

In this role you will be joining the Financial Crime Threat Management Team as Customer Monitoring and Detection Analyst. You will assume responsibility for assessing and coordinating improvements to financial crime filtering solutions, to improve detection capabilities and the quality of alerts generated. You will work closely with other teams in Financial Crime to identify changes needed to improve detection coverage and design solutions to achieve these improvements based on typology reports, intelligence findings and risk assessments.

What will your day look like?

Your key priorities and responsibilities include:

  • Review inputs to identify and prioritise improvements to financial crime detection systems with specific focus on AML Transaction Monitoring and Customer Risk scoring / monitoring solutions.
  • Deliver analytical insights by preparing, analysing and interpreting data as per business processes
  • Design, develop and implement solutions to improve the efficacy of AML detection and customer risk rating solutions
  • Provide ongoing support of the financial crime detection applications through testing and implementation of changes
  • Develop and maintain documentation to demonstrate linkage between Financial Crime risks, coverage requirements and detection solutions in accordance with defined processes and Model Validation requirements.
  • Support the effective management of compliance and operational risk adhering to policies and procedures

What will you bring?

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • You will bring enthusiasm & diligence, as well as a real interest in developing experience in Financial Crime Threat Management
  • You will have the confidence and ability to learn and adapt quickly delivering desired outcomes.
  • Commitment to quality and alignment of standards; ability to engage with others to gain buy-in and act as an advocate for continuous improvement.
  • Proactively identify, support and drive opportunities to manage financial crime risks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and succinct manner that is understandable by all
  • University degree in Quantitative discipline supported by practical application of knowledge in industry (Computer Science / Mathematics and Statistics / Information Technology) is highly regarded but not essential
  • Data management & manipulation skills – Excel, SQL, SAS, Python, Machine Learning highly regarded
