Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Intelligence Developer to join our data analytics team. You will develop and maintain our data warehouse and reporting platform to enable our team to work closely with stakeholders to transform complex data into actionable insights that drive business decisions.

As an ideal candidate, you are comfortable working with large-scale clinical and administrative datasets, you understand how a hospital and/or information management environment functions to create effective data model, data visualization, and BI product support and maintenance.

Reporting to the Manager, Analytics & Business Intelligence, and working directly with other members of the Business Intelligence and Decision Support team and/or individuals at various levels within the organization.

Responsibilities

Development:

  • Develop and maintain logical BI data models that support needs that are currently defined while being adaptable to future needs
  • Design and develop Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations that provide meaningful insights from various data sources
  • Create and maintain data models using DAX and Power Query to support reporting needs
  • Utilize Power Platform components (e.g., Power Apps, Power Automate) to enhance BI solutions and automate processes
  • Implement ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and/or Fabric Data Factory
  • Manage the BI Server software administration and maintenance in collaboration with I.T.
  • Develop SharePoint Sites
  • Develop and maintain naming and object organization standards in collaboration with the BI team

Administration and Maintenance:

  • Implement row-level security and manage user access within Power BI/Fabric
  • Support the BI team in day to day maintenance of BI assets
  • Provide training and support to end-users on Power BI tools and functionalities
  • Optimize asset performance and ensure data accuracy and consistency
  • Stay updated with the latest features and best practices in for technologies used by team
  • Documentation of assets and processes
  • Act as a backup to the Database Administrator for the basic maintenance of the database servers that support the BI environment
  • Conduct data quality investigations and engage in continuous data quality improvements

 What you bring to the role:

Education:

  • Completion of a recognized university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience working with data analytics and relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle) in a similar role
  • 3+ years of experience as a Power BI Developer or similar role
  • Strong proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and data modeling
  • Solid experience with Microsoft Fabric
  • Solid experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for ETL processes
  • Familiarity with Power Platform components, particularly Power Apps and Power Automate

  • Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail within a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Adhering to confidentiality and privacy requirements for sensitive financial and clinical information.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required

Considered an asset:

  • Training in Business Intelligence methods and tools (BI certification preferred e.g. MCSE BI or MCSE Data Management and Analytics).
  • SharePoint development/experience
  • Experience with Meditech/Epic/Cerner
  • Experience in a healthcare decision support environment
  • Experience with hospital data sets (e.g. DAD, NACRS, NRS, etc.), patient information systems, finance, HR, decision support and metrics
  • Experience with Python
  • Knowledge of health care reporting requirements (e.g. OHRS and MIS guidelines)

Work Schedule:

 

Monday to Friday days (900am-500pm). Schedules may change based on operational needs.

Hybrid model of in office and remote work.

$49.30 - $60.53
