What you will be doing:  

Sanofi has recently embarked into a vast and ambitious digital transformation program. A cornerstone of this roadmap is the acceleration of its data transformation and of the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) solutions, to accelerate R&D, manufacturing and commercial performance and bring better drugs and vaccines to patients faster, to improve health and save lives. 

The R&D Data & AI Products and Platforms Team is a key team within R&D Digital, focused on developing and delivering Data and AI products for R&D use cases. This team plays a critical role in pursuing broader democratization of data across R&D and providing the foundation to scale AI/ML, advanced analytics, and operational analytics capabilities. 

As an R&D Technical Data Management Lead, you will be responsible for enabling and implementing the technical solutions for data management within R&D as a part of the R&D Data and AI Products Team. You will implement technical solutions for metadata, master data, and data governance policies to drive adherence to R&D data strategies and governance frameworks and enabling specific data management needs.

 Main Responsibilities: 

Technical Master and Metadata Management 

• Design, implement, and maintain solutions for technical master and metadata management to ensure consistency, accuracy and usability of technical metadata across R&D 

Data Governance Solutions 

• Enable technical solutions to support data governance standards, policies, and frameworks 

• Collaborate with R&D data governance stakeholders to align solutions with broader R&D data strategy and governance framework 

Data Management Use Case Enablement 

• Support business data management stakeholders with the evaluation of specific data management request and enablement of data management solutions to address specific needs 

• Implement controls and measures to ensure that data management solutions comply with all relevant standards 

Data Ingestion, Storage, and Access 

• Develop scalable and efficient pipelines for data ingestion, ensuring timely and accurate data availability 

• Design and maintain storage solutions that support data architecture, including structured and unstructured data repositories 

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement 

• Work closely with data and AI product engineering, data governance and management, and business teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs 

• Act as a technical advisor for R&D technical data management, providing guidance on best practices and industry standards 

About You: 

Key Functional Requirements & Qualifications: 

• Master’s degree in computer science, bioinformatics, data science, or a related scientific field. Ph.D. or equivalent experience in relevant scientific domains is a plus. 

• 8+ years of experience in data management, product development preferred; bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or related fields 

• Strong understanding of data governance and management frameworks and tools 

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to think strategically 

• Familiarity of pharma R&D specific data standards and requirements (HIPAA, IDMP) 

• Proven experience managing complex, cross functional stakeholder dynamics. 

• Proven ability to make strategic decisions, overcome roadblocks, and deliver results in a fast-paced, complex environment. 

Key Technical Requirements & Qualifications: 

• Knowledge of master data management and metadata management tools and platforms (incl. Informatica MDM, Collibra) 

• Knowledge and experience in data ingestion and ELT/ETL tools (incl. Informatica) 

• Familiarity with data mesh architecture preferred
