The goal of the Treasury Division is to: Enable informed decisions through data, analytics, and modeling; and evaluate out risk-reward position and provide value added solutions to the Bank and our customers. As an intern working within the Treasury Modeling team you'll assist in development and analysis of quantitative/econometric behavioral models used for credit risk, interest rate risk and liquidity risk management, as well as balance sheet and capital planning. Supports more experienced analysts and management in data analysis, model development efforts and ad-hoc analysis as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Complete duties and responsibilities of an entry-level professional nature specific to assigned area of the Bank.
- Ensure activities adhere to established internal policies and external regulations as applicable.
- Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
- Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0

Education and Experience Preferred:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, Econometrics, Data Analytics
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated computer skills and experience with Python, R, SAS, SQL
- Proven analytical skills
- Proven critical thinking skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Detail-oriented
