ROLE SUMMARY
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President of Data and Technology will lead the data, systems, & technology functions for Alliance, ensuring alignment with the organizational vision, driving actions, and contributing to an environment of instructional excellence, college success, diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. The VP will own and deliver data, systems, and technology strategy in close collaboration with all organizational stakeholders.
CONTEXT
As Alliance continues to build a culture of excellence, data, and systems have emerged as integral to propelling the organization to run at maximum effectiveness. Over the next few years, Alliance is projected to outgrow dozens of systems and processes, and as such, is searching for a leader who is equally strong with the technical portions of the role, managing newly connected teams, providing short- and long-term strategy, and managing change across Alliance schools and its home office.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the transformation of the technology function at Alliance, including building an in-house network administration team and a more robust in-house desktop support team;
Oversee a robust data & technology infrastructure, including locally hosted data centers and a variety of cloud-based applications used remotely and across 25 physical locations in Los Angeles;
Provide timely and actionable data that will assist and influence decision-making and impact organizational outcomes;
Model and facilitate best-in-class team culture practices, such as valuing diverse perspectives, and working across lines of differences;
Manage the professional growth of direct reports to build a strong leadership pipeline;
Create short- and long-term departmental vision; utilize and model project management and change management skills to ensure optimal outcomes;
Identify, create, implement, and support improvement initiatives and solutions, working with internal and external stakeholders to remedy gaps;
Further develop Alliance’s repository for daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly reporting of key organizational drivers;
Maintain a competitive edge by remaining current on trends and best practices for data and technology.

Well-versed in key Alliance data & technology hardware and applications, including Cisco IT infrastructure, PowerSchool, and SQL data warehouse;
Knowledge of and/or experience with assessments, including online assessment administration and California state testing is preferred;
Working knowledge of K-12 education and urban school environments is preferred;
Proven track record of developing and implementing effective systems and processes at scale;
Comfort with, and enthusiasm for using large amounts of data to drive decisions at the team, division, and organization levels.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited, competitive college/university is required.
At least five (5) years of progressive, professional work in data, analytics, and technology; ten (10) years of full-time work experience highly preferred.
At least five (5) years managing teams and direct reports and leading large systems change work organization-wide; oversight of multiple teams preferred.
WORK LOCATION
This position is a hybrid role that will include working from home, our network office, and travel to school sites. The successful candidate will be given a $400 work-from-home set-up allowance and receive a monthly stipend of $100.

Relocation: Individuals residing outside of the Greater Los Angeles area are eligible for a relocation bonus of $5,000 for individuals and $7,500 for new staff with families/partners.

Retirement: Alliance Home Office employees are eligible for a retirement allowance equal to 7.5% of their regular yearly earnings. Please click HERE for more information on retirement.
Paid Leave: Regular full-time 12-month employees receive 8.5 weeks of vacation and paid time off. Additionally, full-time employees accrue 3 weeks of flexible paid time off per year and receive 27 other paid holidays as part of our network calendar.
Professional Development: At Alliance, we believe in supporting staff growth and development. Home Office staff are allocated $500 per year for professional development expenses.
