Position Summary:

The DIT Summer Intern will work alongside our DIT Development team to gain practical experience in data applications development. This internship offers exposure to data and analytic technologies such as T-SQL, Python, Azure SQL, Azure Synapse (database and integration pipelines), with additional opportunities to learn about web front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Streamlit.

This is a junior technical analyst/developer role, with development work consisting of both new development in addition to supporting and enhancing existing data applications and data integration based on skillset mastery and comfort. The DIT Summer Intern candidate should have a good understanding of data manipulation and analysis using MS Excel, SQL querying language, and exposure to contemporary data and web development tools, in addition to being able to support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of these tools.

Job Accountabilities:

• Create and execute SQL data warehouse validation queries and other ad hoc requests [T-SQL]
• Build Power BI data validation dashboards [Power BI]
• Experiment with Streamlit apps for sales forecasting [Python, Streamlit]
• Assist with converting relational data to graph db format [T-SQL, GraphQL]
• Assist with GenAI semantic search and recommendation [Python]Profiling of data including production and some financial and then clearly documenting findings in approved documentation templates.
• Conduct testing and debugging to ensure the functionality and quality of web applications.
• Analyze and troubleshoot problems in the enterprise data warehouse platform, recommend remediation activities, and implement approved solutions.
• Perform other responsibilities as directed.
• Sedentary category requiring exertion up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and uses negligible amounts of force to move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.

Education, Experience, Skills & Competencies:

Key Education or Certification Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems preferred

Required Minimum Number of Years of Relevant Experience

• 1+ years overall data management experience.
• 1+ years of system and architecture design experience.
• 1+ years working with one or more software coding languages and frameworks including Python, HTML/CSS, C#, Angular, Java, NodeJS, etc.

Competencies:

• Strong MS Excel skills; very good working knowledge of Office 365 ecosystem
• Foundational knowledge in data warehouse, business intelligence, and other Microsoft BI stack technologies.
• Junior-level analytical, problem-solving, and business consulting skills
• Ability to assist with projects that involve data and information technology tools and technologies.
• Ability to work with data management tools and application concepts; Microsoft DW/BI stack preferred.
• Exposure with conceptual, logical and physical data modeling.
• Knowledge and understanding of business requirement analysis and design documentation of data and system architectures.
• Exposure to agile SDLC methodology.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
