Wells Fargo is seeking a Risk Analytics Consultant to join the Risk Rating Methodology (RRM) team in the Wholesale Credit Risk group in Corporate Risk.
The RRM team manages the development and refinement of risk rating methodologies and grids for commercial credit exposures across Wells Fargo. RRM provides oversight of commercial business risk rating methodologies which includes analyzing risk rating data to provide recommendations on existing or new methodologies, approving business risk rating policies and processes, facilitating risk rating tool and application training, overseeing model controls and usage, and resolving risk rating issues and research activities.
In this role, you will:
- Lead data and analytical project work associated with risk rating grid development/refinement and ongoing monitoring.
- Extract data from various systems and databases and manipulate it into standard formats for use in further analysis and development, documenting controls and key processes.
- Analyze data, interpret findings and clearly and concisely summarize/present conclusions and recommendations to project leads.
- Document the data analysis completed as part of a model segment development and refinement, adhering to model risk management requirements.
- Develop new and/or maintain existing analytical tools aimed at monitoring various aspects of the commercial credit portfolios, risk rating tools and associated processes.
- Assist in the enhancement of existing data processes and analyses supporting performance monitoring of risk rating qualitative models.
- Coordinate and consolidate the production of monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports for project leads.
- Evaluate risk rating grid/guidance usage and performance through data analysis, identifying issues that need to be addressed from data trends and taking ownership to address them.
- Present recommendations for resolving data reconciliation, production, and database issues.
- Contribute to specific governance documentation related to outlining RRM’s data related processes within the team, as assigned.
- Identify, document, and track research activities related to risk rating tool issues, upstream data feeds, or monitoring items, and manage their resolution.
- Assist in constructing business requirements for technology implementation of enhancements to data views; testing technology changes as necessary.
- Become a subject matter expert in the various data sources used by RRM, as well as the risk rating data and tools, knowing where best to source the necessary information to answer questions and provide guidance to oversight team members.
- Exercise independent judgment while developing expertise in policy governance, risk projects, and handling regulatory requests.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships within the team and with stakeholders to RRM's processes (various risk groups, technology, and other business partners).
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of Risk Analytics or Credit Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
Desired Qualifications:
- 1+ years of SAS and/or Python programming experience
- SQL experience
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong problem-solving background, specifically extracting, manipulating, and analyzing data
- Ability to prioritize work on multiple projects concurrently, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
- Ability to gather, organize, and interpret data
- Ability to develop Excel based reporting and analysis (e.g. vlookup, pivots, macros or VBA)
- Demonstrated ability to adapt and pivot in a rapidly changing environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues or work independently as needed
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to communicate and present complex analytical topics to a non-technical audience
- Ability to take initiative, identify opportunities and implement changes and solutions proactively
- Familiarity with commercial credit data, commercial risk ratings, probability of default, and loss given default concepts
- Background in mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, computer sciences, or related field
- Knowledge and understanding of technology applications/macros design, development, testing, and deployment
- Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams
- Knowledge and understanding of UNIX
- Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
