Research Analyst I
Occupational Summary:
Support research activities, including planning, organizing, conducting, and communicating research studies. Currently, this position has funding for 1 year, but may be renewed based on available funding.
Work Performed:
A full-time research analyst is sought for major longitudinal studies of divinity school students and clergy. The position is based at the Duke Global Health Institute at Duke University and is part of the Clergy and Religion Research Collaborative, based at Duke Divinity School. The successful candidate will be responsible for data analysis and management of several key aspects of the study, including but not limited to the following duties:
- Confer with principal investigator in developing plans for research projects and to discuss the interpretation of results and the preparation of manuscripts for publication.
- Contribute to developing databases and reviewing data regularly for quality and completeness.
- Summarize data characteristics from a range of data sources and provide written interpretation of analytical tables.
- Conduct qualitative analyses of interviews and sermons.
- Evaluate and interpret quantitative data. Apply statistical and machine-learning techniques to analyze data for important trends.
- Prepare oral presentations or written reports with important trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
- Prepare manuscripts for submission to conferences and journals.
Experience:
Work requires 2 years of experience in research/data analysis or a related position. A related master’s degree may offset required years of experience on a 1:1 basis, e.g. a two year master’s degree in lieu two years of experience.
OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
Education:
Work requires a bachelor’s degree in a field related to the specific position.
Preferences:
The successful applicant must have good management and communication skills within multi-disciplinary teams.
They should be comfortable multi-tasking, setting goals, and be self-directed.
An ideal candidate will have excellent writing skills, be knowledgeable in basic human subjects research methods, and have experience working with quantitative data analysis (including R and Python).
Demonstrated success managing study data and authorship on published reports, conference abstracts, and peer-reviewed papers is highly desirable.
Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $50,439.00 to USD $76,417.00.
