IT Network Engineering Services ManagerAccountability StatementUnder the direction of the Vice President of IT Network & Voice Technology, the Manager of Network Engineering is responsible for the analysis, design, planning, implementation, and maintenance of all facets of the infrastructure network team at VyStar including on-premise and cloud network infrastructure and related services.
The Manager of Network Engineering plans, leads, coordinates, and directs all daily operational activities of the network team. This position provides direction and solutions that enhance mission-critical services to enable datacenter, branch, ATM, and online and mobile banking delivery channels ensuring highly reliable network services to our members. This position requires extensive technical knowledge to effectively manage a team of highly skilled network engineers.
You’ll work with the Vice President of IT Network & Voice Technology, members of the IT Senior Leadership Team, and other key technology and business decision-makers in identifying and implementing cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the business. This position plans, leads, coordinates, and directs all daily operational activities of the data network infrastructure team.
This role requires a mix of strong technical knowledge, project management experience, strong analytic skills, a strategic vision to transform and drive innovative solution, and a track record of delivering results. Qualified candidates will have strong technical leadership and storytelling skills to build rapport with technology and business partners.
Essential Job Functions
- Works in close collaboration with VyStar IT leadership and colleagues, establishing and maintaining network infrastructure strategy and path that aligns with industry-wide best practices.
- Oversees the efforts of network engineers to design and implement network infrastructure in both the on-premise network, and cloud network environments. Ensures new implementations are fully redundant and in accordance with industry standards for high availability.
- Should have a deep technical understanding of networking technologies. Must be able to have in-depth technical conversations with engineers on the network team.
- Defines metrics and points of analysis to continually assess performance statistics of network and cloud infrastructure. Guides engineers on the implementation of monitoring and alerting to ensure no gaps exist and all critical points in the network are monitored. Ensures proactive alerting is in place to allow support staff to react quickly and effectively to outages.
- Drives vulnerability management and remediation efforts to safeguard the on-premise and cloud network infrastructure from security risks. Works closely with the Information Security department to support security initiatives.
- Leads team efforts to ensure network and cloud infrastructure is in compliance with all internal policies and applicable industry regulations. Works with internal auditors to implement recommended compliance policies for network and cloud infrastructure.
- Must be forward thinking in the implementation of networking technologies. Looks to transformative and innovative network solutions. Looks for opportunities to transition suitable services to the cloud environment when beneficial to the organization.
- Serves as an advisor to the VP of IT Network & Voice Technology regarding on-premise and cloud network infrastructure support. Supports and drives the policies, vision, mission, and purpose set forth by the VP of IT Network & Voice Technology, CTO, and VyStar Senior Leadership. Establishes KPIs to provide indicators of progress toward business goals and develops and orchestrates plans to provide delivery.
- Supports and enforces change management policies to safely implement critical on-premise and cloud network infrastructure changes.
- Serves as a guide and mentor to the network engineering staff. Supports the personal growth and development of employees. Provides training opportunities and coaching to enable employees to reach their full potential.
- Manages key vendor relationships to support business operations. Must possess strong negotiation and communication skills to coordinate the efforts of partner vendors, contractors, service providers, and other supporting entities.
- Adheres to the overall financial objectives of the business and tracks the annual expenditures and directs the team’s financial needs in conjunction with Finance.
- Builds a team culture and atmosphere that embraces change and is looking for continuous improvements.
- Coordinates the resolution of operational issues, provides direction on exceptional problems, and guidance to staff in responding to system issues affecting credit union members and staff.
- Drafts team procedures and other key documentation to support team operations and ensure knowledge continuity.
- Creates periodic reporting on critical network metrics to forecast capacity and needed growth. Performs proactive analysis to allow advanced action before critical utilization thresholds are reached on network infrastructure.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
- Extensive experience supporting and maintaining on-premises and cloud network infrastructures.
- Should have strong knowledge in cloud architectures and technologies, particularly with MS Azure network solutions: IaC, DevOps, ExpressRoute, Virtual Networks, VNG, NVA
- Must have very in-depth knowledge of Cisco network technologies: ISR, ASR, Catalyst, Nexus, wireless, ACI.
- Must be able to conduct detailed planning sessions with network engineers. Should be able to clearly explain technical subjects to all levels of management and other business units.
- Knowledge of automation principles to support programmatic deployment of configurations and automation of recurring tasks using tools such as Python, DNA Center, NETCONF, and APIs is highly desired.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent project management and organization skills
- Financial services experience is highly desired.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline; equivalent experience acceptable.
- 6+ years of leadership and coaching experience.
- 10+ years of hands on technical experience supporting enterprise networks.
Desired Certification
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
