Data is at the core of SCOR strategic plan Forward 2026 as one of its four enablers. As part of this ambition, the Data Foundation team has a key role to play.
We are looking for an experienced and highly-skilled Data & Analytics leader as the Group’s Head of Data Foundation that will drive forward SCOR’s Data Foundation vision, to establish a ‘Single Version of Truth’ for analytics products, AI and Self-service access to data across the company.
On the driving seat of the Data & AI Foundation of the Group i.e. the governed data platform that provides high quality and consistently connected data to serve the analytical needs of the company, the Data Foundation team shapes the roadmap of the Data Foundation across SCOR, sets its iterative objectives and is accountable for the delivery of this roadmap in a multi-year journey. The team works as a ‘Product Owner’ of the Data Foundation and acts as a liaison between the Products teams (Analytics & AI) that execute the data & AI initiatives. the Data Platform teams that operate the platform infrastructure stack and drive the data engineering, data architecture & data modeling activities and lastly with the general community of the company to democratize access to data.

The Head of the Data Foundation, as a member of the Data Leadership team and a direct report to the Group Chief Data & Analytics Officer, is expected to build a high performing Data Foundation team, with the necessary team members that span across Data / Business Architecture, Data Quality and Data Delivery managers, catering for the shaping of a Data Foundation across all domains of the company. As a leader in a highly collaborative operating model, they are expected to collaborate very closely with the Head of Data Platform (under Chief Information Officer), peer leaders (Head of Data Strategy & Governance, Head of AI & Advanced Analytics, Head of Analytics Products) and numerous key parties from the different business areas & group functions. The Head of Data Foundation is a leader who needs to be:
 

  • Rigorous in prioritization and structured in their way of working, breaking down endeavors into concrete deliverables, moderating the sequence and needs across multiple stakeholders
  • Objective-driven, defining systematically end-outcomes and the measurement of success through OKRs (objective key results)
  • Execution-oriented, managing deliveries at scale, identifying dependencies and resolving blockers proactively
  • Excellent in collaboration, stakeholder management across organizational levels and fostering a culture of mutual success
  • A natural translator between business needs & technical implementation, bridging the dialogue among diverse backgrounds (technical & non-technical individuals and teams)
  • Focused on quality of data outcomes and establishing ‘production-grade’ operation at large
  • Abreast of latest developments in the data, analytics & AI space, to enable state-of-the-art approaches and act as an enabler of innovation
     
  • Responsible for the shaping and execution of the Data Foundation roadmap of SCOR’s Data & Analytics Strategy
  • Define measurable objectives to track its successful implementation, in line with the objectives of the key initiatives of SCOR’s Data & Analytics Strategy
  • Drive the roll-out of a domain-driven data management approach, to foster a federated data architecture (SCOR’s data mesh) to create strategic data linking and governance across the company
  • Support the integration of the existing AI platform to a common data foundation to enable governed AI development, positioning the Data Foundation as the Single Version of Truth for analytics & AI
  • Bring to life a systematic data quality framework, providing consistently trusted data through the Data Foundation
  • 10 plus years of relevant experience leading data organizations and in the delivery of large-scale data initiatives, in financial services or management consulting, out of which at least 7 years in a leadership / executive role
  • Proven experience in roadmap development, planning and large-scale Agile delivery orchestration, ideally using Objective Key Result (OKR) frameworks and SCRUM
  • Proven experience owning (data) deliveries and leading delivery teams, ideally in a scaled agile organization over multiple squads with operational responsibility
  • Understanding of the full data & analytics spectrum: data ingestion & management, data engineering, analytics products, data science, reporting
  • Proficiency in various data management methodologies, including but not limited to data mesh architectures
  • Knowledge of Palantir Foundry and Databricks is a valued plus
  • Knowledge of the re/-insurance value chain is a valued plus
  • Knowledge of IFRS17 standards is a valued plus
  • Hands-on understanding of latest A.I. techniques (e.g. generative.ai) is a valued plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, delivery and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in English, French is a plus
  • Willingness to travel
  • Natural talent to motivate employees and create a stimulating and inclusive environment
    Required Education
  • Degree in a technical discipline (engineering, mathematics, physics), ideally combined with business education
