Job Description

He kōrero mōu | About you

We seek a self-motivated problem solver, willing to explore and develop new expertise to join our team.

You will bring a proactive and collaborative approach to sharing your knowledge and experience within the team, and with the wider research community, able to work with people of varying levels of technical understanding. You will be fluent in a high-level programming language, including, but not limited to Python and JavaScript and will bring experience in data visualisation, including web-based visualisation. Experience with any of the following is desirable – mathematical modelling of complex systems, geospatial analysis, virtual and/or augmented reality, interactive web tools, machine learning and AI, DevOps and reproducible software practices (including version control, issue tracking, automated testing and package management).

Working across different teams, you are an effective communicator and can take ownership to deliver results in our open, collaborative environment. You will also have a demonstrable passion for research and for supporting researchers that enables you to understand their needs and translate them into digital solutions. 

With significant (3 years min.) experience working on collaborative data analysis or research computing projects, you will bring your knowledge and ability to select, adapt, and effectively use various analytical methods.

A primary aim will be to explore and provide fit-for-purpose solutions that enable researchers to undertake research and unlock insights from research data (some research areas you may work with are population health, geo-visualisation, medical imaging, social media analysis, environmental impact, and climate change).

1 x role is full-time, permanent role (37.5 hours per week)

The remuneration is $110,100 – 129,850 per annum dependent on skills and experience

The Centre for eResearch provides targeted computational support for researchers across Waipapa Taumata Rau | The University of Auckland. Our mission is to develop new ways to apply computer and information technologies to research disciplines and then help researchers to use them. This mission applies to the entire range of research disciplines across the University.
