Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney, Australia but we engage our Contractors and Freelancers all over the world to help us meet our crazy big goals. As a Contractor or Freelancer at Canva you can work remotely in the country listed on this job ad, meaning you have ultimate flexibility. Wherever works for you, works for us.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Build robust, scalable pipelines to onboard new cost data providers into the Cloud Costs platform.
  • Design and implement methodologies to accurately model, allocate, and expose cloud and third-party spend to internal teams.
  • Partner with FinOps engineers and stakeholders to deliver high-impact cost visibility features that unlock real savings opportunities.
  • Develop reusable analytics components and dbt models to streamline cost data integration and reallocation.
  • Rapidly iterate on solutions to meet short-term project milestones while setting the stage for long-term scalability.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment, reduce duplication, and drive shared success.

You're probably a match if

  • You have proven experience as an Analytics Engineer, Data Engineer, or in a similar role.
  • You possess strong SQL skills and have experience working with modern data warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
  • You have hands-on experience building data pipelines using tools such as dbt, Airflow, or Census.
  • You have strong data modelling skills.
  • You excel in collaboration, communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • You consider the end-user experience when building dashboards and data products, ensuring insights are clear, actionable, and easy to interpret.
  • You are detail-oriented, focusing on delivering reliable and trustworthy data outputs.
  • As a bonus, you have experience working with cost data, FinOps use cases, or in cloud infrastructure domains.

About the team

We’re the team behind Canva’s FinOps platform—bringing clarity to complex infrastructure and third-party spend. From empowering Canvanauts with cost insights to enabling engineering teams to take ownership of their cloud usage, we’re building the data backbone that supports Canva’s cost strategy. As an Analytics Engineer on our team, you’ll be at the heart of this transformation, turning raw data into high-impact, high-trust insights that help Canva scale efficiently and sustainably.

Other stuff to know

We make hiring decisions to engage contractors based on your experience, skills and passion. When you signify interest in the Project, please tell us the pronouns you use and any reasonable adjustments you may need during the contractor-accreditation interview process.

Please note that contractor-accreditation meetings are conducted virtually.

We celebrate all types of skills and backgrounds at Canva so even if you don’t feel like your skills quite match what’s listed above - we still want to hear from you!
