nLIGHT is seeking an experienced IT BI/Data Architect to join our team at our headquarters located in Camas, Washington. The BI/Data Architect position will play a critical role in designing and implementing data management solutions and business intelligence systems. Your expertise will be pivotal in transforming raw data into meaningful insights that drive strategic business decisions.

The BI/Data architect is responsible for all elements involved with the design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of data reporting systems and tools. This role will be charged with architecting the data lake, warehouse and enterprise reporting structure and will take multiple diverse data sources and combine them to fulfill the company standard and ad-hoc reporting requirements.

This role will also be expected to assist with mentoring and leading more junior members of the team and working cross-functionally within the IT Org and throughout the business.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Technology Evaluation: Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to improve data architecture and BI capabilities.
  • Data Modelling and Architecture: design and maintain logical and physical data models for data warehousing and analytical purposes.
  • Data Integration: Develop and manage processes to ensure data is accurately integrated from various sources.
  • Assist and guide the wider team on Data transformation.
  • Develop and maintain a sustainable and extensible data warehouse reporting environment.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize the performance of data architectures to ensure efficient data processing and retrieval.
  • Interface directly with key business representatives to gather and define reporting needs.
  • Design and develop data security control structure.
  • Develop and run a variety of ad-hoc and standard reports.
  • Determine and implement report delivery mechanisms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data issues.
  • Create and maintain both end-user and IT department documentation.
  • Train others in the use of pre-defined reports and ad-hoc reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or, PhD in Computer Science, Data science, Information Systems, a related field or equivalent in experience.
  • Proven experience as a Data Architect, BI Architect, or a similar role.
  • 10+ years of IT industry experience with a minimum of 5 years of related experience designing and developing data warehouse solutions, SQL database design and Microsoft SQL server.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI is preferred. Strong technical background in database administration and development is a must.
  • Strong understanding of database structures, design, and reporting techniques required. Fluent in the creation of complex reports, scripts, and stored procedures.
  • Analytical ability to gather and interpret requirements and then utilize those requirements to develop, recommend and implement reporting solutions.
  • Must display good verbal and written communication skills. Have the ability to work directly with business users and software vendors on problems and projects. Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly and effectively to any audience.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
  • Experience with Dynamics365, Azure Dataverse and the Microsoft Azure environment from a Data perspective a Plus.
  • Experience with datalake environments
  • Relevant Certifications are a plus

nLIGHT is proud to offer comprehensive COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: 

Starting pay depends on qualifications:
  • Senior Level: $103,000 to $140,000 annually
  • Level 2: $90,000 to $115,000 annually
  • Level 1: $81,000  to $98,000 annually
