Are you ready to dive into the world of bioinformatics and data engineering? We are on the lookout for a Junior Data/Bioinformatics Engineer who is eager to make a difference in the realm of computational science. If you have a solid foundation in bioinformatics, a curiosity about Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies, and proficiency in programming languages like Python and R, this is your chance to shine! Accountabilities:
Collaborate with multi-functional teams to design, develop, and optimize bioinformatics pipelines for both short-read and long-read sequencing data analysis.
Implement data processing, analysis, and visualization tools using Python and R, and lead workflows with Nextflow.
Use AWS cloud services to lead and scale computational resources efficiently.
Assist in the integration and management of large datasets.
Conduct data quality assessment and solve bioinformatics workflows.
Develop and maintain bioinformatics web applications and user-friendly guides for applying bioinformatics tools.
Maintain relationships with vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery of services.
Lead project management activities including planning, execution, and supervising progress to ensure project goals and timelines are met.
Document processes comprehensively and communicate updates to team members effectively.
Participate in meetings to discuss project progress, explore innovative approaches, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Continuously update skills and knowledge related to bioinformatics tools, AWS platforms, and web programming technologies.
Essential Skills/Experience:
Master’s degree in computer science, Bioinformatics, or a related field is required.
At least 3 years of shown experience in data/bioinformatics engineering roles.
Strong expertise in NGS technology, particularly RNA-seq and DNA-seq data analysis.
Proficiency in Python and R programming languages for script development and data analysis.
Experience with Nextflow for leading and driving sophisticated bioinformatics workflows.
Solid experience with AWS cloud services, including EC2, S3, and Lambda.
Proficiency with version control systems, especially Git, for collaborative development and code management.
Web programming skills to develop and maintain bioinformatics web applications.
Ability to lead, process, and analyze large-scale genomic datasets efficiently.
Familiarity with bioinformatics software and databases.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
Experience with SLURM workload manager for scheduling and leading jobs on compute clusters.
Experience with long-read sequencing technologies such as Nanopore and/or PacBio.
Previous experience in a pharmaceutical or healthcare setting is a plus.

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $109,750 to $164,626. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
