[What the role is]
We are seeking an experienced Senior/Principal Manager (Data Governance), to join Workforce Singapore’s Data Strategy and Analytics Division, supporting the Chief Data Officer. You will lead the development and implementation of WSG's data governance framework, ensuring our data assets are managed effectively, securely, and in compliance with prevailing regulations. You will also collaborate closely with the project team to establish robust data management guideline for our new data platform.

[What you will be working on]

  • Develop, implement, and regularly review WSG’s data governance frameworks, policies, and processes to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with prevailing regulations.

  • Establish and maintain data classification and access control policies, ensuring appropriate data handling and protection measures are in place.

  • Oversee data sharing initiatives, ensuring adherence to prevailing standards and promoting the utilization of Whole-of-Government (WOG) data sharing platforms.

  • Conduct data-related risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address potential data governance issues.

  • Collaborate with the Data Architect to enhance the range and quality of WSG’s datasets, and to formulate and implement data capture policies and data ownership frameworks.

  • Collaborate with project team to establish robust data management guideline for WSG’s new data platform.

  • Lead initiatives to improve data literacy and stewardship across the organization, fostering a culture that values data as a strategic asset.

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to align data governance practices with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.

[What we are looking for]

Knowledge and Skills:

  • A strong understanding of data governance principles, data management, and data protection regulations, including familiarity with the Instruction Manual 8 (IM8).

  • Experience in developing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures within a complex organizational environment.

  • Proficiency in data classification, metadata management, and data quality management practices.

  • Ability to assess and manage data-related risks, and to develop effective mitigation strategies.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data governance requirements into practical solutions.

Aptitudes and Abilities:

  • Detail-oriented, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of data integrity and security.

  • Collaborative mindset, with a genuine interest in fostering a strong data culture within the organization.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
