Job Description

The Sr. Director - Financial Systems and Data Strategy is a senior leadership position within Appcast and responsible to drive the development, integration and optimization of all financial systems and associated data strategies within the company.  This role will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and help ensure that data is accurate, accessible and leveraged in all strategic and financial decision-making.  The Senior Director will lead the financial data governance and associated processes across all financial systems, including but not limited to Certinia/Financial Force, Salesforce, BI tools, platforms and additional systems through Appcast.  This role is critical in collaborating with the business and the finance and accounting teams. And requires expertise in project management, accounting principles, data strategy, system integration with all supporting systems and software.   

Job Responsibilities

  • Key responsibilities will include financial systems management, data strategy and governance, and reporting and analytics. Role will require strong project management, collaboration and leadership skills and require knowledge with compliance and risk management best practices. 
  • This role will ensure seamless integration amongst financial systems and other business applications and knowledge on how to optimize system functionality to support financial planning, reporting, and compliance. 
  • Within data strategy and governance, this role will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive data strategy for financial operations, establish governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance and requires tight collaboration with the business to effectively lead change management to ensure financial data is accessible and usable by applicable parties.  This will include ensuring data governance is in place and working closely with the business on setting expectations and prioritization of enhancements, changes, etc. 
  • The Sr. Director will also oversee financial data reporting, ensure timely and accurate insight of data available for financial and business analytics and require leveraging advanced analytics and business intelligence tools to improve forecast, analysis and decision-making through effective use of dashboards and reporting outputs. 
  • From a technical standpoint, this role will: 
  1. Develop extensive knowledge of the business, platforms and integrated systems to proactively identify the cascading effects of system changes, development and business requests, before they impact users or business operations. 
  2. Ensure data integrity by managing data updates and merges to maintain accurate and reliable information. 
  3. Assist with month-end financial close processes, ensuring critical month-end business processes are in line and resources are available for support and troubleshooting. 
  4. This role will also require adherence to all internal controls and audit processes for each financial system. 
  • The Sr. Director - Financial Systems and Data Strategy will lead a team of financial systems analysts/product owners and closely coordinate with other business users of each application to provide guidance and leadership on financial technology trends and best practices.  This team includes team members responsible for Certinia/FinancialForce, Salesforce, Power BI/Tableau and work closely with owners of the Appcast Portal and associated Stepstone Group financial applications. 
  • This role will work across all stakeholders/functions of the organization, including finance, accounting, sales operations, IT, sales, platform and customer teams, including integration with Stepstone Group Controlling & Reporting. 

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of core financial areas, including GAAP and IFRS accounting rules, standards, and procedures. 
  • Highly analytical and skilled in translating business objectives into technical solutions, with strong problem-solving abilities. 
  • Highly skilled in stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration across diverse business units.  
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and capable of performing multiple complex tasks simultaneously and on tight deadlines. 
  • The ability to capture and fully understand the complete business end to end since all financial systems are interdependent with other systems and business processes. 
  • Self-motivated with a hunger for continuous learning and improvement. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.  
  • Knowledge of best practices in data management and data security.  
     

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems or related field.   
  • 8 to 12+ years of experience as a Financial System Administer, Data Strategy or similar role. 
  • Expertise in Certinia/FinancialForce, Salesforce and Power BI/Tableau 
  • Strong knowledge of data management, analytics and governance frameworks 
  • Strong background in Project Management, Information Systems, Sales Operations, Finance, Accounting, or related field. 
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and large-scale system implementation 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder/change management skills. 

Travel Requirements

  • Travel for this position is occasional, typically occurring a few times a year to attend internal and external meetings.  

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position requires both direct supervision of the financial systems team and dotted-line collaboration with owners of Appcast systems.
