Location: Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD
Clearance: Top-secret
The Senior Engineer 4 provides strategic, technical, and programmatic advice concerning ways in which emerging capabilities in high performance scientific and visual modeling for the United States Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Analysis Center (DAC). DEVCOM/DAC is the Army’s focal point for data analysis and Modeling and Simulation (M&S) from component to force-on-force level models for the Army’s Future Force Modernization Enterprise (FFME).
Responsibilities
- · Perform testing, documentation, and training activities associated with DAC’s Advanced Joint Effectiveness Model (AJEM) and associated tools/utilities.
- · Perform testing and documentation in support of verification and validation of Modeling and Simulation modifications associated with DAC’s modernization of battlespace capabilities to reflect enhanced nuclear weapon effects and associated phenomenology.
- · Provide science, engineering, and technology support associated with biomechanics (with emphasis on injury biomechanics) in support of assessing existing experimental techniques; analyzing data from crash, impact, or shock loading environments; and developing, testing, and verifying/validating new and improved injury biomechanics research and analysis techniques. Activities include:
- · Develop injury biomechanics research plans for use in assessing human vulnerability to crash, impact, and accelerative loading environments.
- · Develop and review execution plans for injury biomechanics experiments investigating blast and shock effects on vehicle occupants.
- · Reduce sensor data and analyze data from testing. Apply standard signal processing techniques when available and when standard techniques are inadequate, develop new techniques, evaluate the new techniques, and document the techniques in comparison to other alternative ones.
- · Diagnose and troubleshoot data, instrumentation, and experimental techniques.
- · Prepare for, provide input to, and conducting experiments at experimental facilities and ranges at the Army Research Laboratory, DEVCOM Analysis Center, other government agencies, contractor sites, and academic sites.
- · Work individually and with other team members to investigate and define specifications for injury biomechanics research. Coordinate and prepare materials and equipment for use at ranges and experimental facilities for conducting experiments.
- · Examine and provide feedback on methods used to process experimental data for use in the project. Methods may include filtering, scaling, data processing, physical calculations, statistical methods, data censoring, etc.
- · Translate injury biomechanics data into the form needed by the Live Fire Test and Evaluation community including human injury probability curves and injury assessment reference curves.
- · Research and develop software tools that implement injury biomechanics data.
- · Develop documentation and provide subject matter expertise to support the Army.
Qualifications
Required:
- · Masters Degree engineering, or a related scientific or technical discipline with 10 years OR
- · Bachelor’s Degree engineering, or a related scientific or technical discipline with 15 years
- · Domain knowledge of injury biomechanics research plans for use in assessing human vulnerability to crash, impact, and accelerative loading environments.
- · Top Secret clearance required.
