This hybrid position will be based in our Boston office Monday- Thursday, with remote flexibility on Fridays.

The Data Analyst, Global Safety & Security will play a critical role in supporting investigations into loss prevention and asset protection by analyzing data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential bad actors. This role will serve as an analytical subject matter expert, helping investigators interpret exception reporting and build data-driven evidence for cases.

The ideal candidate is highly adaptable, detail-oriented, and proficient in data manipulation and analysis. They should be comfortable working with ambiguous datasets, identifying actionable insights, and collaborating with both technical and operational teams to enhance security data capabilities.

What You'll Do:

Data Analysis & Investigations Support

  • Act as a data analyst specializing in loss prevention investigations, supporting Wayfair’s Global Safety & Security (GLOSS) team.
  • Analyze structured and unstructured datasets to identify potential fraud, theft, or policy violations.
  • Work closely with investigators and leadership to gather business requirements for exception reporting and case-building insights.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, reports, and dashboards that provide investigators with real-time, actionable intelligence.

Technical Data Processing & Reporting

  • Design, implement, and optimize SQL queries and scripts to extract and analyze data from multiple sources.
  • Identify key metrics and exception flags that help improve security investigations and reduce false positives.
  • Maintain and enhance reporting dashboards to ensure they deliver accurate, relevant, and timely insights.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Workflow Optimization

  • Partner with technical and operational stakeholders to identify correct data sources, improve data accuracy, and streamline security workflows.
  • Support global security data projects by optimizing existing workflows and implementing new data-driven approaches.
  • Travel to Wayfair’s supply chain, retail, and corporate locations as needed to assist with data implementations and security initiatives.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related discipline).
  • Experience writing SQL queries to analyze and manipulate datasets.
  • Strong analytical skill set, with the ability to write scripts, define key data points, and build meaningful reports.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance independent, focused coding work with collaborative meetings and team discussions.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments where problem-solving and adaptability are critical.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% within the U.S. as required.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as necessary.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods (e.g., sitting or standing).
  • Ability to move about within an office, store, or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in retail, supply chain, logistics, or eCommerce.
  • Proficiency with Google BigQuery, Looker, Google Analytics, or other data visualization tools.
