Milliman’s Milwaukee Property and Casualty Practice is a leading expert in evaluating mortgage collateral for government agencies, mortgage lenders, insurers, reinsurers, and investors. Our consulting work is supported by a powerful toolkit of data analytics solutions informed by years of in-depth work in the mortgage industry.
What You Will Do
The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for transforming raw data into actionable insights, optimizing data processes, building best-in-class predictive models, and supporting strategic decision-making. As the inaugural hire into this role, we are in search of a proactive individual who excels in an environment of innovation and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate possesses the ability to collaborate with client-facing consultants to understand requirements and develop insightful data-driven solutions.
Data Analysis and Insights:
- Understand client’s needs and architect analysis to provide actionable insights.
- Capture, develop, and document data definitions, business rules, and data quality requirements.
- Analyze mortgage and financial data to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
- Implements data standards and deploys automation tools to extract, synthesize, and validate data from various sources and transform data into usable metrics.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using tools like PowerBI or Tableau.
- Use econometric and machine learning algorithms to build new predictive analytic tools.
Process Improvement:
- Evaluate current data processes and identify opportunities for automation and efficiency.
- Implement best practices for data management and governance.
- Ensure data quality and integrity across all data sources.
Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with client-facing teams to understand client data needs and priorities.
- Present findings and insights to stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
- Gather and incorporate feedback from stakeholders to refine data solutions.
- Interpret data, analyze results, and provide insights to determine operational impact, trends, and opportunities.
What We Are Looking For
Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience developing mortgage/borrower behavioral models
- Experience working in the mortgage department of a bank or mortgage guarantor
- Experience developing credit risk reports and presenting results to senior management
- Experience developing and reporting on QC review processes to evaluate loan quality
- Expert proficiency with programming languages, such as SAS, Python, or R.
- Expert proficiency in SQL, Excel, and data visualization tools such as PowerBI or Tableau.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis and predictive modeling techniques.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms, such as Azure or AWS.
- Experience with data warehousing and ETL processes.
- Certifications in data analytics or related fields.
Individual(s) must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for immigration support or sponsorship from Milliman, now or in the future.
Location
This is a remote position, based in the United States. Candidates hired into this role may work onsite in the Milliman Milwaukee office (Brookfield, WI) if they prefer. No relocation assistance is provided.

Compensation
The overall salary range for this role is $104,900 - $207,720. For candidates residing in:
- Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia the salary range is $115,390 - $190,410.
- New York City, Newark, San Jose, or San Francisco the salary range is $125,880 - $207,720.
- All other locations the salary range is $104,900 - $173,100.
A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
