This role is designed for a self-motivated individual with a passion for public service, an ability to work across multiple program areas, and a desire to contribute to an evolving and ambitious analytics agenda.
The Lead will play a key role in designing and refining methodologies, optimizing reporting workflows, and identifying opportunities for analytic innovation. This includes leveraging emerging tools and technologies to modernize analytic processes and improve efficiency, scalability, and impact.
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Project Leadership
Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of high-impact analytics initiatives that address priority questions in health system performance, planning, and equity.
Work cross-functionally with other analysts, subject matter experts, and system leaders to define analytic requirements, validate results, and ensure that outputs meet strategic and operational needs.
Ensure that work is aligned with Ontario Health's priorities and that outputs are methodologically sound, accurate, policy-relevant, and clearly communicated.
Analytical Methods & Innovation
Serve as a subject matter expert in quantitative methods, including indicator development, statistical modelling, time-series forecasting, and machine learning.
Develop, test, and implement new or adapted methodologies for use in complex analytics and reporting.
Translate ambiguous or abstract problems into well-defined analytic questions with clear approaches for investigation.
Identify and mitigate risks related to data integrity, methodological assumptions, and limitations in findings.
Stay current on leading practices in analytics and apply learnings to improve internal capabilities and knowledge base.
Technical Leadership
Design scalable and repeatable workflows to support operational and ad hoc reporting needs.
Collaborate with data engineers, data governance leads, and business intelligence developers to ensure consistency and quality in data pipelines and outputs.
Recommend and document best practices for analysis, reporting, and visualization.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Work closely with program leads, internal executives, and external stakeholders to understand data and information needs.
Synthesize large volumes of complex data and transform them into actionable insights using accessible language, narrative framing, and compelling visuals.
Prepare briefing notes, slide decks, and technical documentation that support policy and planning decisions at the senior executive level.
Build and maintain strong, productive relationships across Ontario Health and with external partners to foster collaboration and alignment.
Program Operations & Governance
Manage multiple analytics projects simultaneously, balancing urgency, scope, and resource availability.
Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and milestones; track progress and make course corrections as needed.
Contribute to the development and adoption of organizational standards related to methods, documentation, and knowledge transfer.
Participate actively in knowledge-sharing initiatives, internal communities of practice, and strategic planning forums.
Education and Experience
Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., health services research, epidemiology, health economics, statistics, public health, informatics); PhD is considered an asset.
At least five years of progressive experience in applied health analytics or related research settings, ideally involving administrative health data.
Demonstrated experience working with large, complex data sets to conduct descriptive and inferential analyses.
Proven success managing analytics projects from scoping through to delivery, often under tight timelines and shifting priorities.

Expert-level proficiency in SQL for querying and transforming large datasets.
Strong experience using Power BI to design and develop interactive dashboards.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, including use of Power Query, PivotTables, and advanced functions.
