About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our Enterprise Data Operations team within the Horizontal Engineering group. This is a technical, hands-on role where you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines and datasets in Trimble's Enterprise Data Warehouse. You will work with a variety of technologies including databases like Snowflake, ETL tools, APIs, scripting languages, and BI tools like Domo.
What You Will Be Doing
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support data integration and analytics needs.
- Work with Snowflake and other database technologies to manage and optimize data storage and retrieval.
- Utilize ETL tools to automate data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
- Write scripts in languages such as Python or SQL to support data processing and automation tasks.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality datasets and reports.
- Use BI tools like Domo to create dashboards and visualizations that provide actionable insights.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data pipelines and datasets.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies in data engineering and analytics.
What Skills & Experience You Should Have
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related role.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with cloud database technologies such as Snowflake.
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools and processes.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python.
- Experience with APIs for data ingestion.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and ongoing projects.
What Skills & Experience You Could Have
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with BI tools like Domo for data visualization and reporting.
- Familiarity with data governance and security practices.
