The School of Health Professions (SHP) at Stony Brook University invites applicants to apply for a full-time, 12-month non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Health Informatics.  The incumbent will be located at the Stony Brook University campus.

The successful candidate for this position will need to have the expertise to teach multiple courses in the Master of Science program in Applied Health Informatics. Current course descriptions can be found at Applied Health Informatics.

In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to the creation and teaching of new course offerings in areas such as artificial intelligence, business analytics and digital health that strengthen the program’s curriculum and offerings.

This position will report to the Chairperson of the Department of Applied Health Informatics and will have responsibilities in teaching, research/scholarship, and service.  Service responsibilities include but are not limited to advising and mentoring students; overseeing projects; providing service to the program, school, university, community and profession; and assisting the Chairperson with program review/accreditation efforts, alumni engagement, external giving outreach and other assignments that contribute to program growth.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) from an accredited institution in Data Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Decision Sciences, Information Technology, Computer Science, or closely related field. Minimum 1 year of teaching experience in data analytics, AI, informatics, or closely related field. Minimum 2 years of full-time healthcare industry experience in data analytics, system development/implementation, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or related area.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Earned academic doctoral degree - PhD, EdD, etc. (or foreign equivalent) from an accredited institution in Data Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Decision Sciences, Information Technology, Computer Science, or closely related field. Experience teaching in online/hybrid modalities. Experience with at least one of the following: programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, R, or similar); AI and machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn); mobile/web app development frameworks (e.g., React, Flutter, or similar); database tools (e.g., mySQL, MongoDB, or similar).
