Job Summary

  • This role will support senior actuaries in delivering activities aligned to SCOR Group Life Australia (SGLA) strategic initiatives.
  • This will provide Actuarial graduates progressing with their exams with work assignments and projects that are challenging, educational and promote personal and professional development. This provides as opportunity for the successful candidate to enhance their technical and analytical skills within a local and global context.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Under direct supervision, conduct analyses that adhere to actuarial standards of practice: select appropriate data sources and methods, make assumptions, recognize considerations and develop recommendations.
  • Become familiar with data sources and requirements; play a role in ensuring bordereaux data is understood, standardised and available for insights; retrieve and manipulate data.
  • Analyse data on premiums and claims to support the experience analysis Actuary.
  • Develop knowledge of actuarial methodologies by assisting in the creation/revision of actuarial models and tools for automation, including the use of new techniques that use data science methodologies.
  • Assist senior actuaries in activities across pricing, valuation, data analytics and marketing.
  • Assist in conducting research.
  • Other adhoc tasks.

Required experience & competencies

  • At least 1 year of prior Actuarial work (while progressing exams) is preferred.
  • Strong ability to use Python and SQL.
  • Knowledge of advanced mathematics and statistical concepts.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, time management and organization skills.
  • Ability to comprehend actuarial concepts and other advanced statistical concepts.
  • Ability to think logically and perform accurate calculations in a timely manner.
  • Ability to use personal computer, and Microsoft Office (including power point, and visual basic).
  • Strong problem solving and analytical thinking ability.
  • Team player.
  • Culturally flexible and sensitive.
