Description

We are looking for a Lead AI Designer to be the team’s design owner on all things AI across multiple projects.

As the Lead AI Designer at BARB, you will lead a team of designers and tech designers, work with Creative Leadership and Tech Leadership to create and expand AI systems for all our products, including our UGC Engine, Arcadia.

This position requires a deep understanding of what makes AI fun for players, but also a very good grasp on the technical aspects of game AI.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead AI Design across our multiple products to create scalable, fun and accessible systems for players, creators and developers.
• Mentor and manage a team of AI designers and tech designers, promoting a team spirit, personal growth and the successful execution of their tasks.
• Work closely with the Game Director to understand and deliver his vision.
• Be hands-on when needed and drive topics to completion
• Under the responsibility of the Design Director, help structure the Design process across the company.
• Partner with the production team and Technical Directors to define the scope and timelines of the AI team.
• Communicate across departments to synchronize AI dependencies and share best practices.
• Work closely with Design Leadership on Arcadia, our UGC Creation Engine, to deliver accessible and powerful AI creation pipelines and tools.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in video game design, with a substantial amount of that time specialising in AI Design.
• Top notch verbal and written communication skills and negotiation skills.
• Proven track record in delivering AI design from conception to shipping.
• Deep understanding of modern AI pipelines and technology, from Combat AI to Vehicular AI and mass actor systems.
• Agility, sense of Initiative and Resilience necessary to work on innovative and fast-moving products.
• Previous experience leading a team of designers is a plus.
