Demant
Leading in hearing healthcare Demant is the only company in the world that covers all areas of hearing healthcare, from hearing devices and hearing implants to diagnostic instruments and professional hearing care, and we harvest significant...Be a driver in the introduction of new audiological features in our hearing solutions and together with your team, shape the future of hearing care.
This position is located in our headquarters in Smørum, Denmark. There is a possibility to work from home up to two days a week.
The role
We are looking for a sharp, motivated and driven engineer with expertise in or around the field of audiology to join our group and drive the development of new audiological features at a system level for our hearing instruments. The role is two-fold and includes you being a main actor in the introduction of innovative algorithms by solving key audiological challenges for our customers (hearing care professionals) or our end-users by leveraging your expertise in audiology and auditory signal processing. Contributions in that role could for example be around our gain prescription, compression strategies, personalization, or diverse sound quality improvement initiatives.
The other, complementing, aspect to the role sees you supporting the team by navigating our development flow at a higher abstraction level, keeping an eye on how new algorithms can be integrated and personalized in our existing ecosystem, and being an expert in the flow of actions needed to elevate a new algorithm from a concept to a working, tested and documented feature in a released product.
In that role, you can expect together with your team to:
• Ideate and prototype new or improved audiological concepts solving concrete challenges within hearing loss compensation
• Develop next-level personalized amplification strategies, for example using machine learning techniques and big data
• Improve the audiological performance of our hearing aids and fine-tune features under development according to specific audiological targets based on technical and psychoacoustics tests
• Conduct exploratory investigations on current or novel features through acoustic or audiological measurements, simulations, statistical analysis, etc.
• Analyze and support the collection of end-user and customer needs.
• Document the design and draw requirements for new audiological features
• Support the integration of new features or new devices in the existing system.
• Support test initiatives at different levels from products to individual features
• Design and implement variability of new features across our product portfolio
• Drive the team efforts on system-level breakdown of new features.
About you
You have experience in at least one of the fields of audiology, psycho-acoustics, acoustics, and digital signal processing for audio application and possess a strong understanding of audiological concepts and hearing aid features. You make use of your excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to quickly understand our system and navigate and break down its different abstraction layers. You have strong communication skills and are an advocate of systematic documentation. You are comfortable diving deeper into technical aspects and turning ideas into working implementations (using, e.g., Matlab or Python). Very importantly, you have experience with and enjoy working collaboratively in a team environment and are eager to drive local initiatives.
The team
You will join a cross-functional and diverse team of engineers comprising audiology and signal processing developers, a test engineer, an embedded software developer, and a clinical audiologist. Together, the team covers all the roles needed to deliver a new feature full-stack, by working within an Agile framework using SAFe methodologies. Teams are enabled with high autonomy all the way from an idea to a product, with support from the business side to set future directions. Innovation and an ability to be creative and challenge existing constructs is encouraged at every level in our organization.
