Job Summary
The Technology Junior Associate Program will allow Junior Associates the opportunity to apply their formal technology training in a professional setting while gaining additional skills, knowledge and experience
Will develop leadership and communication skills, professional development and continued technical training as they develop in their position
Will have a leader as well as a mentor to guide them as they begin their career in Technology
Should be eager to gain technical skills and immerse themselves in the Southwest Culture and their Southwest Airlines Team
This role allows for voluntary remote work for the majority of your working time within the Dallas-Fort Worth area, with occasional on-site presence at our Corporate Campus for training, meetings, and business needs. This role may also require limited travel for business purposes.
This posting is for multiple JTAP positions across various Teams in Technology. These Teams all contribute to important initiatives and are helping to shape the future of Technology at Southwest Airlines. Review the information below to understand what each team does.
Southwest.com team: Plays a key role in developing digital platforms for SWA.com, handling booking management, cancellations, and seat selection through a dynamic UI. This team prefers Candidates to have experience with Java, NextGen, and UI.
Enterprise Contact team: Supports the enterprise solution for the Southwest Airlines contact center called Avia. The team helps support the software that connects 16,000 concurrent calls at one time to the customer support teams that support our passengers. This team prefers Candidates to have experience with Java, Python, and AWS.
Delivery/CCS team: This role will support either the Customer Communication Services or the Southwest Vacation Services team. CCS retrieves all the data and the information for the customer, confirms that the information is correct before sending it to the vendor, who renders the flight information. Delivery Services manages vacation reservation details. These teams prefer Candidates to have experience with AWS, Node.js, Python, Serverless Technologies, Lambda, and S3.
Tech Ops/Ground Ops - FFSR/ ER team: This team falls under Tech Ops but supports the safety and security pillar in Air Ops. They work on modernizing and re-platforming the safety incident reporting and case management process. This team prefers Candidates to have experience with Salesforce or Java.
Tech Ops/Ground Ops team: Supports the Paperless Turn program which leverages technology to significantly reduce paper usage while enhancing efficiency for our pilots and ground crew. This team prefers Candidates to have experience with Java, AWS, Typescript, Lambda, Lamba platform, and Node.js.
People & Finance - Coheart Care team: Supports a unique internal application designed for the support and welfare of our employee base. This team prefers Candidates to have a technical background with experience in Salesforce, MS Office, and Agile/SaFe.
People & Finance - Workday team: Manages and supports the Workday Technical readiness Team. Their goal is to modernize our employees' and candidates’ experience to provide the best-in-class. This team prefers Candidates to have experience with portfolio management, Workday training for non-customers, HR acumen, and Agile.
Responsibilities
Begin to analyze, design, develop program code, test, document, and implement functionally that is technically sound and well integrated into application systems in accordance with business and customer requirements and Technology methodologies and standards
Understands at a general level how technology platforms/architectures are applied to systems and automated business solutions
Will be responsible for Junior Associate Program requirements including continued training and development and mentorship along with demands of day-to-day responsibilities
Demonstrate ability to grow technical skillset to include taking on more software development work
Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Basic knowledge of software development methodologies, practices, concepts, and technologies
Demonstrate programming aptitude and ability for logical and abstract thinking
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
With assistance, will start to facilitate and complete analysis, design, and programming of viable solutions to business problems according to user specifications
Able to work effectively in a strong collaborative and team oriented environment
Able to take on multiple assignments, whether administrative or project related, while maintaining a successful level of completion in all responsible work.
Able to prioritize effectively.
Able to develop, present and effectively communicate ideas and strategies to a variety of audiences.

- Required: Completion of a formal Technology training program that includes coursework in programming languages (Java, HTML, CSS, SQL, AWS, CI/CD, Chrome Developer Tools, Cloud), cybersecurity, IT help desk, data, web development or other related technical studies

Other Qualifications:
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be able to travel and /or attend Company and non-Company facilities and remote locations such as remote-based offices as necessary.

Pay & Benefits:
- Competitive market salary from $64,900 per year to $72,100 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
