This role sits within our Member Segments and Performance department which is responsible and accountable for ensuring our member business plan is achieving the Funds objectives. This includes developing and overseeing programs of work relating to growth initiatives, formulating specific strategies to address needs across each customer segment and leading all customer performance activities to assess the effectiveness of segments specific strategies.

 

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Data Science, the Senior Data Scientist will use advanced analytics to develop solutions that optimise the value and service that we provide our Members to help them achieve their best retirement outcomes. Responsible for working with Member focussed teams, they will create value through improved scale, better member outcomes, optimised resource allocation and excellent customer service. The role requires a consultative approach and strong commercial focus, as they will work with stakeholders to help identify high value opportunities and propose efficient data science solutions. To achieve these goals sustainably, the Senior Data Scientist will leverage their deep knowledge of Data Science and collaborate with other technical teams to continuously improve scalable automation of Machine Learning workflows.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Plan and execute Data Science projects with a focus on solutions that return tangible benefits to our Members
  • Develop and deploy Machine Learning solutions using CI/CD principles for seamless delivery
  • Ensure effective integration of Machine Learning solutions into the business to return real value
  • Engage with non-technical audiences to influence the development of strategic programs using Data Science insights and recommendations
  • Collaborate in the creation of scalable processes that enable rapid ML development and efficient model deployment
  • Identify new Data Science opportunities through close collaboration with stakeholders
  • Optimise acquisition and engagement programs to deliver scale benefit to members
  • Enhance the delivery of service to Members, creating excellent outcomes while managing cost

 

What You’ll Need  

Essential:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience within similar or relevant role
  • Proven experience in identifying, planning and delivering cross-functional analytics solutions to meet commercial objectives
  • Deep understanding and experience in supervised and unsupervised machine learning, statistical concepts, and data science techniques
  • Strong proficiency in Python or R
  • Commercially focussed with strong commercial acumen and curiosity with an interest in value over complexity
  • Recent experience of working with cloud-based platforms, particularly MS Azure Machine Learning.
  • Advanced written and oral communication with a particular ability to present complex analytics solutions and outcomes to non-technical audiences and senior stakeholders
  • Ability to collaborate with dispersed teams to achieve objectives

Desired:

  • Post graduate qualification in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science or Engineering
  • Knowledge/application of Data Science techniques such as: experimental design (particularly regarding marketing); econometrics techniques; GenAI/LLMs; NLP.
  • Experience in working in MLOps practice
  • Experience with Superannuation or other financial services
  • Experience in deploying models to production with Azure Machine Learning

Your new role

In this 6-month role as a Dispute Resolution Officer, you are responsible for ensuring the fair, effective and timely resolution of complaints in accordance with Fund and regulatory requirements whilst driving a strong member first culture.

 

This role will work with complainants and other external parties to ensure the efficient and fair resolution of complaints, complying with the Fund complaints framework and regulatory requirements. The role requires you to act in the best interests of members and their beneficiaries.

 

Key duties include but are not limited to:

  • Management of your own caseload of insurance servicing, product and claims related IDR complaints, ensuring a thorough investigation and well considered resolution. 
  •  
  • Undertake detailed investigations and analysis of complaints and sometimes complex issues in relation to a broad range of complaints. Assess and review materials to ensure all relevant information is organised and well summarised for the member.
  • Consult with the member via regular telephone conversation and correspondence where appropriate to discuss your understanding of the complaint and update them regularly during the complaint resolution timeframe for response.
  • Produce clear, concise, and considered complaint responses and internal notes surrounding your investigation of the complaint.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in registers and databases to facilitate the provision of accurate reporting and information to the business. Follow the relevant compliance and procedure documents during management of the complaint.

 

 

What you’ll need  

  • At least 3 years’ experience in insurance within superannuation 
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret insurance policies along with strong technical superannuation and claims experience.
  • RG146 accreditation (or willingness to obtain)
  • Proven experience in claims or dispute resolution with exposure to regular complaint management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to draft detailed and comprehensive findings and responses to complainants.
  • Well-developed investigation and analytical skills 
  • Able to work diligently, efficiently and pay close attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage the range of tasks required of this position.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and make logical decisions. 
  • Ability to work autonomously and pro-actively to meet deadlines.
