Job Description

The Data Foundation team at CPP Investments' focuses on managing and optimizing the organization's data infrastructure. They ensure data quality, accessibility, and security to support data-driven decision-making. The team integrates data from various sources, maintains data governance, and enhances analytics capabilities to facilitate efficient data utilization across the organization.

As a Lead Data Engineer, you will be responsible for design, implementation, and testing of large-scale data & analytics systems that will help address the disparate data & analytics needs of our growing organization. You will demonstrate leadership and drive engineering excellence within your team and influence the same across the Technology & Data department. You will also be central to developing and implementing data strategies with the business to simplify data environments, and data integration, while providing oversight to ensure consistent application across data solutions.

Accountabilities:

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable and efficient data architectures, including data products, efficient storage systems, and processing frameworks, to support the organization's data needs.
• Provide guidance to a team of data & analytics engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and promote knowledge sharing within the team and across the organization.
• Help define and drive the technical strategy and roadmap for data engineering initiatives, aligning them with business objectives and evolving technology trends.
• Provide on-call support for production systems, create frameworks and automation for DevOps, QE, driving continuous maturity and operational efficiency.  
• Plan and coordinate data engineering change initiatives, from solution design to implementation and deployment, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders with the Data Platforms and across the organization, including data engineers, data analysts, software engineers, and business leaders, to understand their data requirements and provide effective data solutions.
• Help evaluate new technologies, tools, and frameworks in the data engineering space, and make recommendations for their adoption based on their potential to improve productivity, performance, and scalability.
• Ensure thorough documentation of data engineering processes, solutions, and best practices, and promote knowledge sharing within the team and across the organization.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or college diploma in related field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science). 
• 6+ years of relevant experience. 
• Advanced knowledge of big data modeling techniques, including data vaults and dimensional modeling.
• Exceptional programming skills with professional programming experience in a data context (e.g. data extraction, data manipulation, data analysis, etc.).
• Expertise with data quality principles, data profiling techniques, and data governance best practices.
• In-depth knowledge and experience building data solutions in AWS leveraging S3, Glue, Lambda, EMR/PySpark, Redshift/Spectrum, Snowflake, Athena/Presto, etc.
• AWS Big Data & Analytics Speciality
• Experience with Terraform and Github action.
