As a Principal Data Governance Analyst, you will establish the data governance framework including standards, policies and practices for utilizing data throughout our technical and business ecosystems. Ensure data initiatives are aligned to the overall strategic goals of the credit union. Responsible for data quality metrics required by the business stakeholders to govern the data for the long term. Lead cross-functionally to drive data effectiveness and excellence throughout the organization, emphasizing data quality and managing data proliferation. Create data governance strategy and executing deliverables outlined in data governance roadmap. This role is crucial for ensuring that enterprise data assets are properly defined in Business Data Glossary, cataloged in Data Catalog, validated for data lineage accuracy, and structured under a consistent, business-aligned metamodel. The incumbent will also configure approval workflows and collaborate with data stewards and engineering teams to ensure trusted data governance practices are applied. This role will also be responsible for establishing an internal controls framework to include controls at each data hop for enterprise critical data elements.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business and IT stakeholders to establish data governance roadmap, including enterprise-wide data quality framework
  • Implement deliverables from the enterprise data governance roadmap to support the strategic, tactical, and operational data initiatives
  • Lead the implementation of the enterprise data governance structure, establish the enterprise data governance council and lead realization of data as an asset
  • Lead the creation, maintain, and monitor the data governance policies, standards, processes, procedures and playbook(s) for guiding the data management for on-prem and cloud as well as monitor adherence
  • Create and facilitate data governance education and training for the enterprise on core data concepts, practices, standards, and guidelines
  • Lead and support enterprise critical data elements (CDE) identification and standardizing definitions, and maintaining and publishing definitions
  • Promote participation and buy-in for data governance activities throughout the organization including recruiting, cultivating and developing data stewards throughout the organization. Explain the benefits of data governance policies and procedures within the context of the user's needs
  • Create and maintain enterprise data catalog and ensure it is up-to-date and collaborate with data stewards. and manage data catalog
  • Analyze application and business domain data requirements and business rules, understanding the data flow from source to screen; develop and present recommendations derived from analysis
  • Lead the integration of data governance controls in existing business and technical processes
  • Lead the design and implementation of end-to-end metamodel within data governance tool. Define relationships between data assets, business terms, and technical metadata to ensure consistent structure across the catalog and business glossary

 

Education:
  • Bachelors Degree - Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security, Management, Accounting, Finance or Related - Minimum
  • Graduate Degree - Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security, Management, Accounting, Finance or Related - Preferred
  Years of Experience:
  • 9 Years - Data Governance, Data Management or related - Minimum
  •  At least 7 years of experience in Data Governance, lineage, metadata, and controls
  In Lieu of Education:
  • 12 years - Data Governance, Data Management or related

 

Compensation & Benefits:

Typical hiring range:‏‏‎ ‎$113,000‏‏‎ ‎-‏‏‎ ‎$159,550 Annually. Actual compensation will be determined using factors such as experience, skills & knowledge.
