We need to transform aspects of Mobile Networks to take full advantage of the new evolving 5G eco-system. With software centricity, telco cloud and data, we can create a Digital Mobile Platform to enable monetisation of 5G while delivering a cost-effective, highly optimised intelligent network. This role is key to our goal of transforming our Operating Model strategies through aligned data analytics capabilities and digital solutions.
You will be working in a software engineering development team in charge of BT Mobile networks, with the responsibility of rolling out 5G networks across the UK, automating the mobile network roll-out, developing mobile 5G network applications, API development and data-driven Operations using machine learning and AI. This new role aligns with BT’s mobile network strategy to achieve end-to-end digital transformation. This role is part of the offshore unit in Mobile Systems Development and based in Bangalore Pritech Office with an opportunity for hybrid working (3days in the office and 2days wherever you like).
What you’ll be doing
Accountabilities:
- Leads cloud system design activities and/or reviews system designs to assure that solutions will exhibit expected levels of performance, security, scalability, security, maintainability, appropriate reusability and reliability upon deployment.
- Manages automation initiatives of cloud infrastructure provisioning and configuration management, self-service, infrastructure-as-code services, auto scale initiatives, and DevOps deployment.
- Communicates with key stakeholders to influence the adoption of cloud-native systems and helps to inform stakeholders on how to use platform capabilities effectively through appropriate venue.
- Delivers consultative advice through advanced technical knowledge on system architecture and recommend solutions in alignment with systems engineering best practices
- Leads the collaboration with quality assurance and technical writers to complete development cycle
- Leads the collaboration with business stakeholders and product owners to scope and de-risk development activities in advance
- Executes complex data analyses to make decisions on where to invest and iterate on efficiency and cloud management tools
- Drives a risk-aware culture and ensures efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes
- Ensures efficient functioning of data storage and processing functions in accordance with company security policies and best practices in cloud security
- Identifies, analyses, and resolves complex infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues independently
- Champions, continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in cloud engineering best practices and industry standards
- Mentors other cloud engineers, helping to improve the team’s abilities by acting as a technical resource.
you’ll need:
Essential
- Fundamental understanding of various data streaming, ingestion and real-time processing models
- Hands on work experience on Hadoop Ecosystem (HDFS, Hive, Hue, Ranger, Impala, Oozie, Spark etc)
- Understanding of Linux as a runtime environment.
- Understanding on networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP)
- Deep understanding of certificates specific to TLS and mTLS
- Knowledge of load balancing solutions and techniques.
- Hands on work experience in a public cloud eco-system preferably AWS. (EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, EKS, Redshift etc.)
- Advanced PL/SQL with hands on experience on complex data sets.
- Experience with observability platforms such as Dynatrace, Grafana etc.
- Experience with scripting languages for automation e.g. Bash, Python
- Familiar with Agile Development method with through story planning, estimation, and retrospectives.
- Prior experience using Confluence, JIRA, Git, Nexus, ServiceNow etc.
- Knowledge/Experience of Data Modelling, Data Pipelines and handling Streaming Datasets; experience in using various database technologies: RDBMS, Graph, Columnar, NoSQL, database schema design and knowledge of Scala and Python is desirable.
