Service description:

Within the corporate Digital & Data department, we aim to facilitate and drive our organization to leverage data.

At our client, data is considered a major asset for the business to achieve its targets (strategic ambitions, innovation or transformation themes, objectives, and regulatory compliance).

With our Data Platform consisting of:

• Cutting-edge Integration Toolset,
• Business Intelligence, Analytics, and storage capabilities,
• A platform for the Management of Master Data,
• A Data Governance platform that encompasses Data Lineage and Data Quality.

With our Data Organization consisting of:

• Business Product Teams (supporting the business stakeholder initiatives, organized according to Agile principles)
• Backbone/Platform Teams (supporting the data platform initiatives, organized according to Agile principles)
• Transversal competencies Team (supporting various profiles and technologies initiatives, organized according to Agile principles (Spotify))

Accordingly, we challenge ourselves and the organization continuously. We work in quite a flat hierarchy, with our team members widespread in agile teams and according to the principle of open source.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Data Engineer who will primarily join one of our product teams. This is an opportunity to leave your mark on our corporate Data organization and contribute indirectly to better product management for our customers, as well as providing qualitative data or services around data.

As a Data Engineer, you'll create data pipelines, efficient storage structures, and powerful materialized views in various analytical technologies, as well as data exchange endpoints for our users. You will also be required to interact with aspects related to governance tools (Glossary, Modeling, Lineage, or Data Quality).

What you will NOT be doing:

• You shall not act from an Ivory Technical Tower.
• You do not make decisions for the Business but rather advise them with careful logic or reasoning.
• You shall not deliver technical solutions, rather product features.

Requirements:

• At least 3 years of experience in a similar role
• Proficient in SQL Server
• Experience in implementing data pipelines using Azure services such as Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Azure Stream/Log Analytics, and Azure DevOps
• Experience in implementing data pipelines or data enrichments with Python in a Databricks environment
• Fluent in English (must have) AND fluent in German/French or Dutch (soft requirement)
• Open to learning and jumping on new technologies (e.g., Redis, RabbitMQ, Neo4j, or Apache Arrow)
• Able and willing to interact with business analysts and stakeholders to refine requirements and present reusable and integrated solutions
• Able and willing to contribute to extensive testing of the solution, reinforcing devops principles within the team
• Able and willing to contribute to the writing and structuring of documentation
• Experience with PowerBI
• Able to challenge your interlocutors by leveraging your rational thinking and no-nonsense philosophy
• Continuously looking at data in a transversal way (no silos), across the Enterprise, to maximize coherence, reuse, and adoption

Additional information:

• Work regime: fulltime
• Location: 2 days/week in Brussels and 3 days/week remote (after training), occasional travel to Berlin
• Important: if the consultant will work in Belgium, for non-EU candidates, please present candidates who comply with the following criteria:
• Possess a work permit allowing the individual to work in Belgium.
• Hold a valid residence permit confirming the right of residence in Belgium.

• For a PO created at 50Hertz, the Elia Group General Purchasing Conditions short version, as of July 2021 apply. The Specific Purchasing Conditions short version Germany as of July 2021 shall also apply in addition to the above conditions. These can be found on our website.
• Please note that ELIA/50Hertz at all times need to maintain the flexibility to switch the location of the PO. In case of a change, the local tender process must be respected.
