Our activities include data and AI lifecycle management, advanced analytics and insight development and execution, and business decision enablement. We are a team of data analysts, data and information product owners, data scientists and most importantly, data and AI business leaders. We are hiring a Head of Data Management & Governance, a key role for our organization. In this role, you are responsible for all aspects of data management, including developing the overall data management strategy and creating and maintaining standards and best practices for data provisioning and data integration. You are the subject matter expert within the organization and can partner to design solutions and capabilities that improve our ability to deliver accurate and valuable data at scale across Guardian. You will collaborate across business and risk functions including legal, compliance, risk and security. The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in data management and governance, a track record of driving organizational changes to embed a strong data culture, exceptional leadership capabilities with exceptional stakeholder and relationship management skills. 

 

Key areas of responsibility and value creation include: 

 

  • Operationalize Data Management Standards & Governance 

  • Lead Guardian in our robust data management plan to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance across Guardian’s critical data and information domains and product.  

  • Deliver our new data and information product lexicon and standards across Guardian.  

  • Lead the Data Product Committee to execute upon the new standards and practices. 

 

  • Implement Data Management controls that provide data pipeline efficiency and quality assurance. 

  • Collaborate with management and leadership to track KPIs and drive progress toward achieving strategic/annual goals. 

  • Develop actionable insights for users to discover and access data product trust. 

  • Train end-users on dashboards and expand data quality measures and tracking for more data and information products’ data value chain. 

 

  • Lead Guardian’s effort to develop and maintain a single, accurate, and unified customer view to support advanced analytics, digital enablement, and customer experiences. 

  • Generate new unified profile in partnership with technology. 

  • Partner with business units to drive profitable adoption of new profile into our marketing, operations and digital solutions and departments. 

  • Create the master data management roadmap in conjunction with technology that advances Guardian’s ability to improve customer experiences and value.   

 

  • Advance our Third-Party Data Management practices: 

  • Implement data management practices for 3rd party partners that Guardian partners with for data, models and AI 

  • Enable efficient-streamlined testing and evaluation of partner data to ensure quality and performance standards are met. 

  • Drive cost efficiencies through data reuse across the enterprise 

 

  • Data Leadership and Culture – Promote and strengthen Guardian’s culture of leveraging data and insights to drive informed decision making. 

  • Foster strategic partnerships with business, technology, and risk leaders to influence and drive organizational change.   

  • Manage data management governance curriculum and training modules 

  •  Lead the execution of required change management initiatives in close collaboration with key functional partners to ensure successful adoption and sustained impact (business, technology, operations and human resources). 

 

 

Data Governance Leader 

 

You Will: 

 

  • Work closely with business stakeholders and executives to plan, prioritize and implement Data governance initiatives that gives the maximum business value and tangible outcomes 

  • Lead data management and governance improvements across Guardian and for high priority needs in specific business verticals. 

  • Drive adoption of the data governance program across the business domains across the administrative and downstream systems  

  • Responsible to deliver “fit for purpose” quality data for data democratization, working in conjunction with the Business area leaders. 

  

  

  

You are: 

  • Proficient in Insurance specific and industry regulatory and data management and standards (HIPPA, ACORD, NAIC, EDM Council, DAMA etc.) 

  • Well versed with emerging and leading Data Product Management trends– AI/ML Data governance, Cloud data governance, Data governance for Data Mesh & Data Fabric, Data democratization, Data Marketplace enablement etc. 

  • Experienced at implementing data Governance organization and resource models (Centralized, Federated, Hybrid etc.) 

 

 

 

You have: 

  • 15+ years of relevant Industry experience 

  • Demonstrated success in delivering multiple large scale data governance programs on time and on budget. 

  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to engage, influence, and build trust with senior executive stakeholders. 

  • Ability to plan & prioritize and execute multiple tasks under tight timelines 

  • Proven leadership experience managing teams of 10 or more, with a strong focus on coaching for performance, career growth and skill development.  Skilled in fostering a culture of continuous learning, open communication, and constructive two-way feedback. 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with superb attention to detail 

  • Experience leading the implementation of any industry leading Data governance tools is a huge plus (Collibra, Informatica, Alation etc.) 

  • Demonstrates continuous learning and growth mindset in an environment with a high change aptitude and rapidly evolving industry.  

 

Location: 

  • New York City Hudson Yards, 3+ days per week with work from home flexibility. 

Salary Range:

$174,760.00 - $287,102.50

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
