Developer, Business Intelligence - Internal Audit & Controls

I. Job Summary
This individual will play a pivotal role in transforming data into insights that guide operational and financial audits and perform risk assessments. This position requires a combination of strong technical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to bridge the gap between business needs and data analytics. This would be accomplished by demonstrating a strong understanding of business processes and building meaningful sustainable relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. You will take an active role in contributing to the department’s strategic initiatives focusing on continuous improvement, cost savings, and increased automation. Working closely with the Manager of Internal Audit, this role will provide mentorship to the analytics team, and support decision-making with data-driven insights. This role provides a great platform to learn about the Company’s business, policies & procedures creating opportunities to grow and develop inside and outside the Internal Audit & Controls (IAC) department.
II. Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other ancillary duties may be assigned.
- Ensures all projects and data developed is value adding and provides actionable insights.
- Design and implement comprehensive dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI and custom scripts to support operational and financial audits, risk assessments, and continuous monitoring activities.
- Analyzes requests to ensure that they are value adding and prioritized appropriately
- Acts as resource for colleagues with less experience.
- Demonstrates a commitment to the quality of data sets and reporting created by the team, ensuring they are repeatable and sustainable.
- Act as a bridge between the technical data team and the business, ensuring that data insights are presented in a way that is understandable and actionable for non-technical stakeholders.
- Utilize programming languages such as Python and R to perform complex data extraction, cleaning, and analysis.
- Ensures all requests are logged for data, reporting, and analysis.
- Support IAC team with ad-hoc data requests, such as sales commission trends, revenue comparisons, and other operational metrics.
- Present to stakeholders, working with this team as a partner and providing actionable insights and recommendations.
- Interfaces with data architecture team and troubleshoots complex data issues.
- Works with and combines large, disparate data sets to uncover actionable insights.

IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (accredited) in Information Sciences, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years of relevant experience.
- Experience: Five (5) years of related experience (in addition to education requirement).
C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
Technically advanced or in-depth knowledge or skills in one or more of the following required:
- Expert relational database and data warehouse experience, SQL server, Oracle and Snowflake.
- Advanced Power BI skill set with advanced DAX, Power Query and sql queries.
- Proven Implementation of Value Adding Data Visualization Design and Best Practices.
- Experience with ETL Data Preparation – Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) Data with a firm understanding of how to shape datasets using a mixed environment.
- Ability to quickly analyze, synthesize, and apply information to drive solution-based outcomes. Desires the need to know the “why” through probing questions, moving beyond surface level understanding to get to the foundational ideas concerning a particular issue.
- Build relationships with stakeholders across the organization to gain an understanding of their key processes/systems and the underlying internal control environment. Has ability to recognize and respond to diverse thinking styles, learning styles and cultural qualities.
- Apply understanding of risk recognition in financial and operational processes with solid core analytical and problem-solving skills.
