Led by Visa’s Chief Data Officer, the Global Data Office coordinates high-impact, complex, company-wide projects related to data business strategy, critical investments, policy development, and marketplace execution. Working closely with Visa’s Chief Privacy Officer, the Technology organization, the wider data community, and the full set of Visa’s global lines of business, the Global Data Office is evolving Visa’s data-related work with momentum and enthusiasm. Job Description
Essential Functions
- Develop and execute a strategic vision for the data engineering team within the Global Data Office (GDO) that aligns with organizational goals. Lead high-impact projects such as the Collaboration Platform and Cloud Data Platform, ensuring successful design, implementation, and maintenance of platform products and BI solutions to meet client needs and drive business growth.
- Oversee the lifecycle of complex projects, ensuring timely, scope-compliant, and budget-friendly completion. Manage projects like the Collaboration Platform and work with out regional data science team to ensure stability and scalability of the platform
- Lead the design and development of robust data pipelines and architectures, ensuring high data quality and reliability. Integrate advanced AI and machine learning technologies to enhance capabilities and deliver greater client value.
- Collaborate with various teams, including Cybersecurity, Architecture, Engineering, Data Privacy, Governance and regional teams, to ensure smooth project implementation and operation. Engage with data product stakeholders/consultants to align project goals with client needs.
- Participate in and lead hackathon projects to explore and implement cutting-edge technologies. Stay updated with industry trends and drive the adoption of innovative solutions within the team.
- Anticipate and meet client needs by delivering high-quality data solutions that drive mutual growth and value. Demonstrate proactive customer obsession by onboarding clients successfully and developing valuable cardholder insights through secure collaboration platform.
- Establish metrics to monitor and improve the performance of data engineering processes and systems. Continuously seek opportunities for process enhancement and efficiency improvements.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualification
• 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications
• 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
• Experience with:
o Distributed data processing frameworks and data storage solutions
o Building streaming data pipelines using modern data streaming technologies
o ETL/ELT data pipelines, data quality checks, and data anomaly detection and notification systems
o Architecting and building large-scale distributed data processing systems with high availability, low latency, and strong data consistency
o Agile development incorporating continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD)
o Strong experience in at least two or more programming languages (Python, Java, Go, Hive, SQL)
o Develop and maintain expertise in multiple programming languages (Python, Java, Go, Hive or SQL),
o Experience using AI/ML, GenAI/LLMs, and data science tools.
• Experience with any one cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. Preferrable experience working in Databricks or certified.
• Proficiency in using data engineering and analytics platforms.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native data services and architecture.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies.
• Familiarity with data security best practices and compliance standards in the cloud.
• Experience in applying machine learning algorithms and techniques to solve real-world problems.
• Knowledge of machine learning frameworks and tools.
• Understanding of model deployment and monitoring in a production environment.
Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 155,300.00 to 225,300.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
