JOB TITLE: Sr Data Analyst

DEPARTMENT: R&D

REPORTS TO: VP, Software Engineering

NUMBER OF DIRECT REPORTS: ☒ None ☐ 1-3 ☐ 4-6 ☐ 7 or more

POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to engineering processes within our R&D department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

· Data Collection: Gather and compile data from various sources including internal databases, software systems, and external sources relevant to engineering processes within R&D.

· KPI Development: Work closely with engineering teams to define and develop key performance indicators (KPIs) that accurately measure the efficiency, productivity, and quality of R&D activities.

· Decision enablement: Make improvement recommendations to SLT and Executives; enable data-driven decision monitoring and decision-making across the entire R&D org., etc.

· Data Analysis: Utilize statistical techniques and data visualization tools to analyze and interpret engineering KPIs. Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in the data to provide insights and recommendations for process improvements.

· Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor and track engineering KPIs to assess performance against established benchmarks and targets. Identify areas of concern or opportunities for optimization.

· Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports and dashboards summarizing the findings from KPI analysis to stakeholders within the R&D department and across the organization.

· Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, project managers, and data scientists to integrate KPI analysis into decision-making processes and strategic planning initiatives.

· Data Quality Assurance: Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data used for KPI analysis through data validation, cleaning, and reconciliation processes.

· Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline data collection processes, enhance data quality, and improve the effectiveness of KPI measurement methodologies within R&D.

· Operational Excellence: Through continuous performance monitoring and KPI-driven analysis, the role ensures optimization of processes, improved productivity, and quality enhancements in engineering and R&D activities.

· AI Application: Leverage AI/ML techniques to enable self-serve analytics, making analytics as simple as using a search engine. Utilize predictive modelling and anomaly detection to identify early indicators of risks, project delays, or quality regressions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field. Master's degree preferred.

· 5+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or performance reporting— preferably in a research or engineering environment.

· Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.

· Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, or similar for data manipulation and analysis.

· Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical analysis, data modelling, and data visualization techniques.

· Ability to define, monitor and refine KPIs in complex technical environment.

· Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.

· Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.

· Familiarity with engineering principles, R&D processes, and KPI measurement methodologies is desirable.

· Exposure to AI applications in Business Intelligence (BI) or an interest in learning AI tools to enable self-service analytics and predictive analytics.
