Job Summary

As the Director of AI Infrastructure and Data Architecture, you will lead the charge in building the foundational systems that power Goosehead Insurance’s AI and data capabilities. This strategic leadership role bridges enterprise architecture, data engineering, and artificial intelligence. You will define and execute the company’s AI technology roadmap, establishing scalable infrastructure and tooling to support machine learning, real-time analytics, and data-driven decision-making across the enterprise. You will collaborate cross-functionally with business leaders, data scientists, and engineers to translate stakeholder needs into robust, scalable, and compliant data infrastructure solutions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Build and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines
• Design and implement data modeling and architectural frameworks
• Orchestrate cloud infrastructure for AI/ML systems
• Conduct data quality validation and ensure integrity
• Optimize performance across data and ML platforms
• Lead and facilitate Data Engineering Guild meetings
• Mentor junior data engineering staff
• Set and communicate long-term AI infrastructure vision
• Propose innovative solutions for technical and business challenges
• Define and execute Goosehead’s AI infrastructure and data architecture roadmap
• Design and oversee enterprise AI/ML platforms (e.g., data lakes, model registries)
• Act as a strategic advisor to business leaders, aligning technical solutions with business needs
• Build secure, resilient, and scalable systems to support real-time analytics and ML workflows
• Develop and maintain architecture standards aligned with cloud-native best practices
• Implement CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, and MLOps automation
• Establish frameworks for data governance, cataloging, and responsible AI use
• Research and adopt emerging tools and trends in AI infrastructure

Experience and Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, infrastructure, or architecture.
• Minimum 3+ years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience designing and operating AI/ML systems at scale in cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Demonstrated success translating business needs into infrastructure strategies in a consulting or product-focused capacity.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Advanced knowledge of data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, orchestration tools, and distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, Java, or Scala.
• Experience with tools like Airflow, dbt, Spark, and Terraform.
• Familiarity with MLOps frameworks, streaming systems (Kafka/Kinesis), and model lifecycle management.
• Understanding of data governance and compliance within regulated sectors.
• Experience deploying and monitoring ML models in production.
• Knowledge of model registries, feature stores, and experimentation platforms.
• Background in insurance, financial services, or healthcare industries.
