Data Product Owner – Regulatory Reporting - Inside IR35

The Role: 

The Data Product Owner – Regulatory Reporting is responsible for designing and delivering high-quality data products that support regulatory compliance across jurisdictions. This role acts as a bridge between regulatory reporting teams, data engineering, and business stakeholders to define, prioritize, and deliver trusted data assets and pipelines that meet evolving regulatory requirements (e.g., Basel III/IV, IFRS, GDPR, ESG, TNFD).

• Hybrid - 3 days per week in Canary Wharf
• IR35 Contractor - 6 months with possibility to extend / £725 daily rate

Responsibilities:

• Product Ownership
• Own the vision, roadmap, and backlog for regulatory reporting data products.
• Define and prioritize user stories based on regulatory deadlines, compliance risk, and business value.
• Stakeholder Management
• Act as the voice of the customer (regulators, compliance, finance) in all product development activities.
• Work closely with compliance, risk, finance, legal, and IT to ensure data products meet reporting requirements.
• Data Governance & Quality
• Champion data lineage, quality, traceability, and completeness.
• Ensure data dictionaries, metadata, and transformation logic are well-documented and auditable.
• Delivery & Agile Practices
• Lead sprint planning and reviews with data engineering and reporting teams.
• Ensure timely delivery of features and data products for regulatory filings.
• Risk & Compliance Awareness
• Stay up to date with regulatory changes and assess their impact on data requirements.
• Ensure alignment with data privacy and protection frameworks (e.g., GDPR, BCBS 239).

What we're looking for in our applicants: 

• 8+ years’ experience in financial services, regulatory reporting, or enterprise data management.
  
• Proven experience as Data Product Owner. 
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks: Basel, IFRS, CRD IV/V, MiFID, TNFD/ESG disclosures, etc.
  
• Proven experience in Agile product ownership or business analysis in a data-focused environment.
  
• Familiarity with data modeling, data lineage tools (e.g., Collibra, Atlan), and modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure).
  
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
