2. JOB PURPOSE

Hikma is seeking a Data Governance Specialist who will play a key role in ensuring the success and adoption of enterprise data governance initiatives. This role is responsible for implementing governance policies, driving data stewardship engagement, and metadata management processes.

This role is mainly tasked to drive the understanding of data by the organisation to maximise its use and value. It requires the understanding of data across systems and how data is produced and used by the business processes.

Another central focus of this role is establishing and nurturing a Data Stewardship Community of Practice, ensuring data owners and stewards are empowered with the guidelines, tools, and processes to maintain high data integrity and usability.

This highly collaborative role works closely with data engineering, analytics, and business teams to ensure governance frameworks are effectively applied in day-to-day operations.

3. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Data Discovery: Understand, map, document and explain the data across the organisation and help identify and explore new data sources and analytical methods.

• Policy Development: Formulate and document data lifecycle management, data governance policies and procedures, emphasising transparency and accountability. Understand and outline roles, responsibilities and processes to ensure that data is managed and used in a compliant and effective manner.

• Data Stewardship: Establishing and implementing standards for data management and usage, ensuring compliance and data integrity. This involves collaborating with various departments to create a unified set of rules and standards that govern how data should be handled, stored and accessed across the organisation.

• Data Quality: Implement quality assurance policies and practices to ensure data accuracy and consistency. This not only includes running regular audits and checks to validate data but also involves liaising with data providers and consumers to correct any inaccuracies and ensure alignment with business goals.

• Metadata Management: Document metadata in centralised repository to enable self-service and AI analytics. Improve metadata to accurately describe the origins, transformations, and uses of data, accelerating data analysis and increasing trust in data assets. Collaborate on the implementation of data governance tools and technologies to support data lineage, cataloguing and discovery.

5. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems or relevant field.    

EXPERIENCE

• 1-3 years of BI development experience.
