The Analytics & Tooling (A & T) team is a crucial part of the Compliance & Ethics (C&E) department, focusing on driving compliance through data-driven decision making complemented with IT capabilities.
The role
The Analytics and Tooling of Compliance & Ethics team is seeking a Compliance Data Scientist experienced in anti-financial crime solutions. As a Data Scientist, you will play a crucial role in analyzing complex big data sets, developing data use cases, and training predictive models. Your work will directly impact business opportunities within the financial crime area. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement data science use cases, leveraging supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify business opportunities related to financial crime.
- Identify, collect, understand, and prepare data (cleansing, enrichment, etc.) for processing.
- Implement predictive models to score and prioritize alerts raised by existing and future anomaly detection systems.
- Develop anomaly detection algorithms using supervised and unsupervised machine learning models or other relevant data analytics techniques such as Natural Language Processing or graph/network analysis.
- Analyze interactions within our ecosystem of counterparts (clients, agents, beneficial owners, etc.) using graph databases and network analytics techniques to detect unsuspected and potentially risky relationships.
- Iteratively improve the performance of models in close collaboration with subject matter experts.
- Design both static and interactive data visualizations to communicate results clearly and impactfully to stakeholders who may not have a strong background in data science.

Technical Skills:
- Master’s or doctoral degree in a quantitative field (e.g., computer science, artificial intelligence, mathematics, physics, statistics).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in developing machine learning models.
- Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and Spark.
- Expertise with Scikit-learn and Pandas libraries.
- Proficiency in data science techniques and their application in a business context.
Soft Skills:
- Ability to explain complex analyses to non-technical stakeholders using storytelling and data visualization.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills at both technical and business levels.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities, a can-do attitude, creativity, and persistence in understanding and solving business challenges.
- Ability to work independently on technical projects while also socializing and interacting with colleagues from both business and IT sides.
Bonus Points:
- Experience in building data products from design to production.
- Experience with any of the following:
- Power BI
- Hadoop ecosystem
- Git
- Proficiency in visualization libraries/tools (e.g., Plotly/Dash/NetworkX).
- Familiarity with network analytics.
- Knowledge of compliance-related domains (sanctions, transaction monitoring, KYC, fraud detection, etc.), ideally in the financial industry.
- Previous exposure to generative AI and/or Natural Language Processing.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably Azure.
