We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced, and highly driven Senior Data Engineer to play an instrumental role in creating and evolving complex data centric solutions that improve decision making for company’s clients and internal staff. You will be part of a data engineering team responsible for building and maintaining scalable data systems and pipelines. The team manages acquisition, storing, and processing data from internal and external data sources for multiple analytical products. This also includes data mapping, geocoding, validation, metadata management, and automation processes. The team uses Python scripting to implement and automate data workflows on top of relational and columnar databases.
You will collaborate with stakeholders and development teams to provide decision making solutions from idea through design, deployment, operations and validation - all while working in an exciting, fast-paced, agile environment.  This role reports to the Data Team Lead and works closely with Development, product management, and strategic partners to deliver solutions that simplify the daily work life of the front line of education. 
Primary Responsibilities:  

• Create, optimize, maintain, and improve data integration pipelines.
• Create and implement complex transformations of regular and large datasets.
• Ensure data quality, reliability, scalability, and integrity.
• Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modelling.
• Automate and improve performance and efficiency of data management processes.
• Collaborate with engineering and product development teams on architecting, building and deploying the data analysis systems.
• Provide feedback on the work of other data engineers.
• Communicate with clarity across the organization and influence decisions as appropriate

Qualifications:  

• 6 or more years of progressive experience with data intensive systems and applications.
• Proficiency with SQL and data modelling.
• Excellent command of Python, Spark and scripting.
• Hands on experience with ETL/ELT tools.
• Proficiency with DBT and Apache Airflow.
• Experience in designing and implementing dimensional models for data warehouses.
• Proficiency in building and managing data warehouses.
• Experience with cloud-based environments - AWS preferred.
• Familiarity with DevOps, Linux and/or Windows.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• Ability and willingness to learn new languages and technologies.
• Fast learner, detail oriented, and capable of working in a fast paced work environment.
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills
