Our Computer Vision team has doubled in size over the past year, and we’re looking for a strong engineering manager to keep that momentum healthy and sustainable. You’ll partner with our current CV leader to split the growing roster into focused pods, establish clear ownership boundaries, and ensure the team’s research breakthroughs continue to land in production on predictable cadences.

In this role, you’ll hire, coach, and retain top vision talent. By running clear onboarding, growth plans, and regular feedback loops, you’ll foster a culture where senior ICs level up, future leaders emerge, and every engineer feels empowered to deliver at scale.

You will contribute by

You’ll start by building and nurturing a high-caliber team. From sourcing and interviewing to structured onboarding, performance coaching, and career-pathing, you’ll make talent development your first priority—creating an inclusive, high-trust environment where senior researchers and engineers thrive and emerging leaders get the stretch roles that level them up. Regular one-on-ones, clear growth goals, and transparent feedback cycles will ensure every team member knows exactly how their work advances both their career and Hover’s mission.

You’ll co-own the computer-vision roadmap alongside Product and Design, translating market opportunities and research breakthroughs into a sequenced plan. You’ll steer projects through data strategy, experimentation, and production deployment, enforcing engineering standards that keep accuracy high, latency low, and costs predictable. Throughout, you’ll communicate progress and trade-offs to executives, champion best practices across teams, and continually refine team structures so that our growing organization ships customer-delighting innovation at an ever-increasing velocity.

Your background includes

  • 5+ years managing high-impact CV/ML teams that ship production systems at scale.
  • Hands-on expertise in 3D reconstruction, multi-view geometry, or ML-based reconstruction.
  • Proven track record partnering with product teams to scope features, run experiments, and iterate based on customer feedback and data.
  • Familiarity with modern MLOps stacks (cloud GPUs, CI/CD, monitoring) and a passion for measurable reliability and cost control.
  • Ability to articulate complex trade-offs to executives, engineers, and customers alike.
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in CS, ML, or related field.

Nice to haves

  • Experience managing geographically distributed or hybrid teams.
  • Publications in CVPR/ICCV/ECCV and a track record of turning research into revenue

Hybrid roles at Hover

Hover has Hubs in San Francisco and New York City, where we expect that all employees living within a 50-mile radius of our offices will come into their local Hover office at least three times a week to build rapport and foster organic connection. At this time, Hover is not considering fully remote roles.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $238,000 - $272,000 annually. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all applicable US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
