About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer II on the AI Productivity team, you will play a key role in building internal AI powered products that significantly increase productivity across our engineering teams. You’ll take ownership of building intelligent agents that enable our teams to work efficiently. You will also take ownership of core foundational services that power LLM and AI infrastructure for the entire company and will be responsible for responding to on-call incidents, resolving issues, and addressing customer concerns. Additionally, you will help shape new products and make use of AI tools to accelerate development.

At Instacart, the AI Productivity team is constantly re-inventing and building new products focused on driving internal productivity. Our team takes pride in having extreme levels of ownership and high levels of collaboration. You will be working closely with seasoned engineers and leaders across the company to drive specific use cases end to end. Our work directly impacts the success of Instacart.

About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages
  • 3 years of experience in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems, and 2 years of experience leading projects and providing technical leadership
  • Strong proficiency in maintaining high standards for production services
  • Rapid coding skills and management of production services
  • Experience with high scale throughput and distributed systems problems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills and ability to contextualize problems across various audiences
  • Skilled at navigating ambiguity and involving the right stakeholders to address issues efficiently
  • Experience building and shipping products to users 
  • Expertise in leveraging AI to enhance delivery velocity and efficiency
  • Visionary thinker capable of generating transformative ideas
  • Prior experience working with AI systems is a plus

Instacart provides highly market-competitive compensation and benefits in each location where our employees work. This role is remote and the base pay range for a successful candidate is dependent on their permanent work location. Please review our Flex First remote work policy here. Currently, we are only hiring in the following provinces: Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.
