Individuals that challenge the way we think, lead us down new paths and contribute to solving the biggest challenge of humankind - climate change. Is this you?

Become one of our 34 International Trainees at Vattenfall. Each of the trainee positions is unique, linked to a department within a specific business area and a working location. This means that each position has its own specific responsibilities, challenges and matching profile.

Next to your personal development in this unique position you will be enjoying one year of all we have to offer. Your trainee year will be filled with meetups with your international trainee team with likeminded individuals. You will be meeting up virtually to work on assignments and live during four seminar weeks where you will be visiting our power plants and growing your superpowers with a variety of trainings.

 

Your role as a Trainee – Data Engineer Customer Analytics

 

Your goal is to create our data infrastructure in a simple and efficient matter. Over two million customers generate an enormous volume of data points that we can use to tailor smart energy solutions addressing their needs. You will design, build and integrate data from various sources. You will extract the data from source system, load and transform so that the data is clean and consumable for insight and analytics. You seek automation opportunities and ensure that data pipelines guarantee that the data is reliable, secured, refreshed and of high integrity. Data scientists, data experts and consumers rely on the stability and accuracy of the data in our data platform.

You will be working in a team that is committed to provide that services to our customers. The data and analytical products supported by our team ranges from Sales, Marketing, Service Operation, Finance or Process Management. Our tech stack comprises Azure, and Azure-related services, as well as Snowflake and Matillion.

 

As a trainee you will be a full-fledged employee in our Customer Analytics team, but you will also have the unique opportunity to further strengthen your skills in any other technical area of your interest by doing a rotation with another team for six months. This will allow you to expand your network within the organization and broaden your skillset.

As a Trainee – Data Engineer, you recognize yourself in the following…

You are very keen to learn new tools in software development and you have an Agile mindset; a SCRUM way of working. Furthermore, you recognize yourself in the following profile:

  • Almost finished or finished your master’s, preferably in computer science or related field;
  • Up to one year of experience as a Data Engineer / Python Developer / SQL Developer;
  • You enjoy programming in SQL and Python and have experience doing so;
  • You enjoy working with data, data transformation and aggerating data into information;
  • You challenge yourself with learning new technologies and broaden your horizons;
  • You want to pursue a career in IT, data and analytics.

You are our ideal talent if you have…

Recently graduated with a maximum of one year working experience or are set to graduate before September 2024. You are fluent in English. Proficiency in other languages can be a merit. You are willing to relocate for possible assignments throughout the organization. Lastly, you identify yourself with our core principles: active, open, positive and safe.

Location

You will be working in the IT department located in our headquarters in Amsterdam.

Selection period starts after the application period is closed with online tests followed by interviews in February/March. We kindly ask you to use the same email address during the whole process (application, online test) otherwise there is a risk that your application is excluded due to system reasons. The recruitment process will be finalized in April.  The last step will be a pre-employment screening.

Starting date of the Vattenfall International Trainee Programme will be September 2nd, 2024.
