A Day in the LifeThis is an opportunity for an experienced data scientist that is looking to grow professionally and make an impact on the lives of patients across Latin America. This is a Principal role, which means you will hold a leadership position without having direct reports. Your role will cover all of Latin America, requiring occasional travel within the region, with your position based in Brazil under a hybrid work model.

This individual contributor will design, deliver and/or manage projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. The majority of effort is spent on implementation of data analytics; from design to implementation, while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills normally acquired through advanced education. Experience in a hospital setting, leveraging data from Electronic Medical Records (EMR’s) and expertise on data privacy are essential. The ability to present ideas and results to key customers is also required. Strong statistical and computer coding skills are needed. Fluent written and oral English language required. Spanish also highly desired.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Develops, inspects, mines, transforms, and models data to raise productivity, improve decision-making, and gain competitive advantage.
  • Conducts statistical analysis on data and information to ensure correct predictive forecasting or classification.  Includes collaborating with physicians to generate analysis and publications.
  • Manages all aspects of end-to-end data processing utilizing customized report-building functions of systems.
  • Maintains analytical systems, verifies the accuracy of the data, adherence to data policy and procedures, and acts as a liaison to the business.
  • Extract and clean data from hospital Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) or other database systems.
  • Manage data privacy concerns and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Assess the medical status of patient groups based on cleaned data to generate publications that may include economic analysis or cost-effectiveness analysis of the data.
  • Work with customers to understand project inputs and outputs and involvement with other tasks to support Clinical Research activities as needed.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math or engineering.  MS in Data science, Health Economics or similar.  Work in medical environment preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and data visualization tools
  • Advanced English is required and Spanish Language preferred.
  • Requires mastery of a specialty area and full knowledge of industry practices, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. Database experience, statistics, technical writing and customer communication are all key skills. 
  • May have broad knowledge of project management. (PMP Certification preferred).

We are going to consider the following criteria as nice to have, taking into evaluation the history of publications on the analysis of large datasets; ability to present information to the leadership in multiple languages. Certified in Health Data Analyst (CHDA), Project Management Professional (PMP), Member, American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and Member, International Society for Health Economics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR).
