Essential Job Functions

  • Management of Oracle DBMS products
  • Knowledge of managing databases on Linux, Windows, and AWS Oracle RDS
  • Management of Oracle HA and Replication environment, including RAC cluster support and Data Guard
  • Design and support for backup and recovery of databases using RMAN integrated with other backup utilities.
  • Plan and execute the patching and upgrades of Oracle databases (in both a standalone and RAC environment).  Demonstrate skill using database backup and recovery models, utilities, and best practices
  • Troubleshoot and optimize DBMS infrastructure and application database efficiency, including tuning data queries within programs to maximize application performance. Determine the data to collect and analyze information as appropriate. 
  • Configuration and utilization of database performance monitoring and tuning tools such as Grid Control
  • Participate in application meetings to assist with the design and planning of database modifications in coordination with application releases and upgrades, application troubleshooting, roadmap planning, etc.
  • Utilize the knowledge of Oracle DBMS internals, objects, and processes, as well as best practice principles regarding availability, performance, and security
  • Implement and administer Oracle DBMS and database security for user and application access, encryption methods, and auditing.
  • Coordinate and execute Data Refreshes and migrations between environments as required.
  • Deploy and configure new DBMS/database environments.  
  • Document and update complex work instructions for reuse.
  • Participation in Disaster Recovery Drills
  • Participation in 24x7 On-Call Rotation
  • Architect/Engineer DBMS projects
  • Provides work guidance and leadership to less experienced personnel. Acts as technical project leader on assigned projects.
  • Review and coordinate all DBMS changes to ensure accuracy and
  • Utilizes standard corporate tools to record change and problem activities for tracking purposes.
  • Application database/query performance troubleshooting and analysis
  • Develops complex data retrieval queries. Analyzes and determines informational needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, proposed manipulation, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities for complex databases. Recommends and implements a course of action based on analyses.
  • Defines logical attributes and inter-relationships and designs complex data structures to accommodate database production, storage, maintenance, and accessibility to enhance performance.

Basic Qualifications

  • Technical experience to perform the above job functions
  • Bachelor's Degree in IT or related subject
  • 7 years of experience with administering HA Oracle Environments in Linux and Windows
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Clear and concise communication, writing, and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to provide thorough and friendly direction on a business and technical level
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, dynamic, and results-focused environment
  • Ability to support multiple diverse environments
  • Understanding of ITIL processes, Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management
  • Willingness to work as part of a 24/7 on-call rotation
  • Character to multitask effectively and efficiently with little supervision
  • Willingness to rapidly expand skillset to other technologies

Work Environment

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

Compensation at DXC is influenced by an array of factors, including but not limited to the experience, job-related knowledge, skills, competencies, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $73,100 - $135,700.
